Thats rare.. Accrington Stanley v Crewe.. I was the only photographer at the game... 5 goals.. I got three.. All the celebrations ran as far away from me as they could.. unbelievable.. always ending up in furthest away corner in dark.. Accy aint the best of places for light..

I was on 4 commisions tonight... and I had two backup commisions had the game been off...a local NL for men or a college game :)

Well done Tony. I'm glad I'm not the only one the teams run away from, though. I just love the footie team names you have 'up north' - so creative. Reminds me of that episode of The Detectives where there's a competition to find all the teams with second names ...
Down this way they seem to combine: Richmond and Hampton Borough, Havant and Waterlooville - seems a bit unfair for my team to have to play against 2 teams :)

Weather seems to have played havoc with some pitches. There's an away game Saturday I might try to get to, but apparently at the club's Monday fixture, even after a Monday afternoon inspection that passed it got called off at the last minute. The following is from the club's forum:

Crap pitch. Boring style of football. Badly behaved fans. Undisciplined players. Hopeless manager. Uncommunicative board. Random car parking arrangements.

I have tried to explain this to people.. some photogrpahers just think premiership...wow! then dont get anyhting published and dont get paid... I get paid for shooting college football.. womens football.. sunday morning junior footbal... I am not talking newspapers I am talking organisors...

The works out there... you just have to work hard looking for it rather than going to premiership games hoping for a big hit and impressing yer mates :)

Getting paid is good news. Congrats. Unusual to be on your own - maybe the other photographers know you're going to be there so don't bother. You're like a mini Getty images :D.

To be honest i think you post was correct without trying to stir up a hornets nest.

I can see where your coming from due to the fact of some of the posts that have cropped up her and other forums i frequent it has all been along the same lines top flight or nothing.

Not slagging people of just making similar observations

Well done by the way bread and butter money is always the best.

I know exactly what you meant. I like taking photos, but at the same time, I enjoy learning about the limitations of myself and/or my equipment, and the fact I can do that at a lower league level (Championship 1 in Rugby League, Championship in Union) and not have the immediate hassle from people means I get to relax a bit more than I think I would if I'd gone straight for the top.
