Hi Guys,

I understand this is a well covered topic but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a not so expensive on-line course.

I have been looking at the photography institute and feel its just a little to much for me at this stage.

I'm looking for something to give me some direction in photography as a hobby rather than to become a professional.

Not looking to spend a fortune at this time either so just wondered if there is a little gem out there that i have missed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:)

I just bought The Photography Institute course on an Amazon Local deal last week for £49 (usually about £500 or so quid), it's really good so far.

I also got one from DSLRPro Academy for £69 which included the basics of Photoshop, both were a fraction of what they normally cost.

The courses frequently come up, so get signed up to their mailing lists and you'll get notified when they are next available

I will keep my eye open.

Doesn't need to be anything fancy just something to give me some structure and direction.

I'd be interested to know what you think of the DSLRPro course! Had a quick look on their website and it seems quite good!

I like the idea of doing a course and submitting modules to have them assessed/marked

I regularly see photography courses on groupon all the time but don't know of there any good but there cheap

DSLR Pro Academy's support was shocking imo. I'm hard of hearing and wanted subtitles to ensure that I followed the course thoroughly, I tried asking numerous times and just got evasive answers. I then got told I can do a free trial, which then didn't work, so I got told to install Firefox, which still didn't work. I then got told to e-mail one of their e-mail addresses, never got a response but the chap still followed me up asking if I wanted to go with the deal!

Still in search of a good site with subtitles if anyone knows of any! In the meantime I think I'll stick with the books!

Well I'm only a short way into it so far, it's a series of tutorial videos and supporting documents, although so far I'm still in the early stages where it's explaining concepts like focal length, ISO etc. I've actually learned a heck of a lot from it, and even though I've done nothing practical on the course (yet), I feel as though I'm getting a lot from it.

I haven't started the Photograpghy Institute one yet but I've had a sneaky peek at some of the modules and that looks very good

Thank you for mentioning it, because I am a deaf person.

Yes, I know of courses that have subtitles.

http://www.lynda.com/ has many courses with subtitles. I haven't joined any of their courses yet, but there are some FREE demonstration to show it.
