*snigger*

These windows viruses get everywhere! They're even putting windows popups on my mac!
In the words of Paul Daniels...Now *that's magic!*

Not sure how this online scanner managed to scan my C: Drive though, considering I don't have one.
Not sure where it found all the .dll files it was scanning too :p

(Yes, this post is literally dripping and overloaded with sarcasm ;)) :D

I HATE SITES LIKE THIS. Because people like me have to go round to friends and families to clean the mess up when theyve downloaded this 'free' software.

"have you tried turning ot off and on again?"

:p

They've even used a logo that looks like AVG's... a bit... :bat:

Computer says "No".... lol..

Best advice....

format c:

That should sort it....

Steve

i hate those thing's one of my family used my computer when i was at work and downloaded it mucked up my computer for ages :-(

Had the same thing happen to me last week, tried to delete it but it keeps popping back and re-installing itself. So frustrating

Cos people don't read the small print on free virus checkers

AVG for example doesn't protect against this sort of thing

Safe Search & Surf
The essential protection for Internet use. New web threats (called exploits or drive-by downloads) can infect your computer just by visiting a web page! Our new technology ensures the safety of search results, web pages, favorites & bookmarks before you open them.

AVG Free only includes the Safe Search protection which provides you with advice on search results. It does not protect against infected pages. Only AVG paid versions contain the Safe Surf technology.

uninstall avg, install Kaspersky trial ,clean system , then reinstall AVG, and then stop downloading porn, LOL you normally get zlob/porn from a download,

The Zlob Trojan, also known as Trojan.Zlob, is a trojan horse which masquerades as a needed video codec in the form of ActiveX. It was first detected in late 2005. However, it wasn't until mid-2006 that it started gaining attention.[1] Once installed, it displays popup ads with appearance similar to real Microsoft Windows warning popups, informing the user that their computer is infected with spyware. Clicking these popups trigger the download of a fake anti-spyware program (such as Virus Heat) in which the trojan horse is hidden.[1]Some forms of the "Zlob Trojan" can be found and activated through many messaging sites (such as Meebo, AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger) along with online games (such as World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, WarCraft and Call to Arms).

I have removed this scam spoof software from a few of my mates PCs.

You need to do a Google for 'mbam-setup.exe' it's the only program that will remove it.

AVG and Norton will not remove it and you can't uninstall it.

If you get stuck PM me your email and I will zip it and email it to you.

LOL, does anyone actually read a post anymore, or just the title and the pictures :p

I always automatically censor that column out in screenies. Don't know why :p

Thanks for all the helpful posts of course , but I think youre all missing my point.
It's not a real virus, nor a real scanner, nor a real XP popup.

I'm on a mac ;)

...and then they moan when their pc's just wont work anymore :bang::bang:

edit: and before ANYONE suggests it, she IS NOT getting a MAC! Not till after I have one anyway :p

LOL it was clever finding all those files wasnt it? :D

Luckily the end of the world hasn't happened like they said it would. I didn't download the software, and my *PC* hasn't died a fiery death so I think I'm safe :D

Erm, guys... sorry to p*** on your parade but:

Now this could just be the usual marketing bluster put out there by US corps, BUT as macs become more and more commonplace, they will be targeted.

To think that any system is immune is a fools errand. It will take time, but the more people that buy Macs the more the malware writers will consider them a target.

So, enjoy the party while you can.

Zlob is doing the rounds on Facebook at the moment. Users are getting an email that purports to be a friend giving you a link to videos/images.

The email has come from an infected user and clicking on the link will download and infect your machine.

best wash it with a mixture of bleach warm water and a sprinkle of Jif ( old powder type) that should do it :)
