Hi everyone..
I have just bought my self an olympus om10 film camera
I'm a bit new to slr's and am a little confused about the meter within the viewfinder that defines the exposure range..
Over exposed is supposed to light in the red marking at the top & under exposure at the low markings..
But mine seems to flash all the way thru the scale.. Kinda knightriders up and down.. It's set for auto exposure on the asa ring..
Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or If its not working properly..
Any help to explain how it's supposed to work would be appreciated

Happy shooting
Darren

put a lens on it and hold still, point it at something constant - now what does it say?

It's been a long time since I looked through an OM10 but I'm pretty sure the one I used to have just indicated what shutter speed the camera chose to go with whatever aperture you select. So as you turn the aperture ring, the indicator will go up or down. There wasn't anything to tell you whether you were under or over exposing.

My Pentax MX does a similar thing. It seems to work better if you set the shutter speed, then fiddle with the aperture - not the other way around. Maybe try both ways?

The om10 is an aperture priority camera without the manual adapter. The indicator in the viewfinder is just that, it tells you what shutter speed its going to use for the chosen aperture and available light, its not a meter.
You will see numbers next to each light, them be shutter speeds.
So like mentioned, pop a lens on, hold it still and turn the aperture ring, it should alter the shutter speed automatically.
If not then it doesn't sound too promising.
