I have returned to photography after a long time away, I bought a second hand Olympus E 500 and would like a zoom lens for it, I see there are a lot of Om film lenses out there which require an adaptor ring can some one give me a pointer on where to go with this as its a bit confusing
thanks

Thanks, x2 crop factor ? nope lost me, perhaps I need to do a bit of reading, a guide to starting photography? any recommendations

With the adapter it should be straightforward, fit the adapter to the body, fit the lens on front. The result will be a manual focus and manual aperture set-up. You should get exposure metering, but limited to aperture priority modes as the camera will have no control over the lens.

If you're confused, it's often best to stick to the native mount lenses designed to be used with the camera.

Very kind, thanks I may give it a try as the expense is minimal compared to the alternative

Sorry, tried to correct a typo and the whole post went. I'll try again...

When looking for an adapter they're described as lens to body so look for OM to Four Thirds (which I think the camera is) rather than micro four thirds. There are a lot of Olympus micro four thirds adapters about so avoid those and make sure you get the right one. They start at under £10 on the well known auction site.
