Have been looking for a good 70-210 Series 1 Vivitar 2.8 without success but have come across a Zuiko 200mm which sounds a good buy. Not as useful as a zoom, but a good lens to add to my small bag I think.

Has anyone had experience of this lens and what is a common sense price to pay? I've seen them on eBay for a lot more than the asking price for this one.

Thanks,
Al

Don't know about the Zuiko, but it should be excellent as ther others are.

A Vivitar S1 f3.5 early version however will set you back a few pennies, but I can vouch for it's awesomeness. (Although it's a big heavy b****r)

+1

Although if you want the best version for sharpness and weight then get version 3, the 1st has a slightly better macro mode though (1:2.2 compared to 1:2.5) and usually sells for a bit less.

Yep the mk1 is the biggest of them, and is not the sharpest either but it's still very, very good!

Been a long time since i used one,but not a to bad lens 200mm F4,i the price is right,go for it :)

Well if you are going to use a 200mm lens stopped down, my choice would be the Kiron 80-200 f4 non zoom lock as it's more useful...why? Well I can't see the difference in large crops between it and primes:- Fujinon ebc 200mm or ordinary Canon Fd 200mm..I've seen them go for as little as £10 and paid £4 for mine at a bootsale, if you get a good copy cheap you wont be disappointed.
Also another good zoom (if you can pick up cheap) is Tamron 46a.

Kiron 80-200mm it's my favourite zoom and could bore you tears with shots, the only weakness is it's not VG and macro setting.

Thanks for all comments. The point is that the Zuiko is available (or was yesterday) whilst others are not at the moment. Shall go for it providing it's still there.
