Evening,

I hav ejust seen an Olympus Trip 35 in a charity shop for £9.99. It has the manuals elastic banded to them and looks nice. Not handled it, it is in a display case.

Is it worth getting? I am not that mad on film, so probably wouldn't use it right now, but may do in the future.

Would anyone on here want it for the tenner + P&P?

Cheers

I have a couple of Olympus Trips- great little cameras in thier day. With a 40mm f2.8 lens. You see plenty going on e-bay for 99p or less, so a tenner is a bit steep unless it's a minter.

Look into the lens and half press the shutter. If the aperture opens up then closes again when you release the shutter, buy it.

If it stays fully closed, it needs a service.

Thanks, will have a good look a it tomorrow.

also test the meter, put it on A and cover the lens, look into the viewfinder and press, if a red line comes up then it is working (indicating not enough light obviously).I have a couple and paid between £6 and £10 delivered.

would be keen to get peoples thoughts on the trip - i've been debating getting one for a while.....i currently have an olympus xa2 - what differences would i see inn the results i get between this and a trip (apart from narrower focal point)?

what does the red line represent? should i shoot in a or manual? not very clued up!

just acquired one of these and another few film cameras so will try shoot my way through 6 rolls of film this week, weather pending.

:D

well here goes, ran my first roll through it and besides some difficulty with guaging the distances and focus, i'm pretty pleased with the results...

I was poking through a car boot last week and picked up one of these as it just looked nice. Turns out it's a 1968 model, and absolutely mint.

Aperture was sticking, but an hour with some precision screwdrivers had it all dismantled, freed up and back together again (with no bits left over :)) Simple job if you've got a 1mm flat-head screwdriver.

Will go shoot a roll in it at the weekend.....try to avoid going to any more car boots as I can see how easily you could get addicted to rummaging through boxes of old camera stuff.....

Struggling a bit with focus on mine. I took it apart to fix the sticking shutter, and it all works fine, I'm just finding it a bit tough to get sharp shots.

Am I right in thinking that the front lens element, that you screw in, will be key to focusing? I may give it a quarter turn and shoot another roll and see if the focusing moves back or forward.

Amazing sharp when it is in focus though!

If you screw it in (so it moves closer to the film) the focus point will move further away.
