Hi guys, my dad just have me his old Olympus om10 to play with but there is a problem. It won't wind on and the shutter appears to be jammed (yes, I know the two are connected). I was wondering if the shutter needs the batteries to work in some way or if there is a known problem that somebody may know about? I can't see any obvious shutter lock or anything like that. Any tips or thoughts gratefully received.

Thanks, just been surfing for clues and it seems you are right.

Yep.... Batteries needed :O)

Actually it turned out to be the contact at the bottom of the battery compartment! I noticed some residue from an old battery in there so cleaned it up. Thanks for the tips guys, now to get used to permanent manual focus and winding on again...

Result.....

Time to build up those thumb-winding muscles :O)

I love my om 10
Im on my second one in three years though lol
This one seems ok for now so i thought i would treat it and get the old old blue and cream olympus "hunter" strap.
Hope you have the same fun with yours as i do mine
