I am waiting to see what OM say about the one OM1 I have sent in for warranty repair prior to deciding anything. Hopefully I hear something early next week so I can make a decision.

If they fix it, I will keep it and sell my other OM1 body (perhaps) and purchase the Om1.2....but.....I am also eager to see what, if anything, OM do for a new OM1 in 2026.

Would be typical for me to buy the OM1.2 and then they release an all new, all singing and dancing OM1 in 2026 with a new sensor and this that and the other...

Amazon are on the Olympus approved suppliers list.
My understanding is that the lens must be sold and supplied by Amazon themselves, and not a third party supplier.

If you check the T&C of the promotion it states Amazon is not included in the cash back.

The Amazon/Olympus situation has always been complex. In the olden days, Amazon were a pure Olympus dealer and as such buyers benefitted from all promotions. However, it got murkier as Amazons supply chain became more fluid and it was difficult to ascertain just whom you were actually buying from, so Olympus decided that although most Olympus gear would still benefit from benefits such as a UK warranty, cash-backs were generally excluded. In practice you now find that many of Amazon’s listings of Olympus gear have already had an approximation of discounts applied at point of sale. The amount of discount depends on that applying in the country from which the product was actually sourced. Amazon’s supply chain is often a mystery to even some of their own management.
This from a now-retired Olympus UK manager with whom I used to have a close connection.
 
Caved into GAS and have an OM1.2 arriving tomorrow.

I did part ex some items against it and if I sell one of my OM1 bodies, it will be £467 cost to upgrade which I was happy with given the 5 year warranty

Got to do a bit at work today and tomorrow then I’m off until Monday too.

Looks like it might cost a bit more £££ for both of us until then. Saying that, my wife’s been off since last week. I just don’t want to know what she’s been buying lol!

I am usually very good with spending.

I was brought up not to spend money I don't have, not to use credit cards, save until you can purchase outright.

I fell victim to man maths lol - that's my excuse anyway.

Oh, on another note for anyone interested.

I logged into My OM System today and the OM1 that I purchased from Amazon and sent in for a warranty repair is now showing as READY TO REPAIR.

I haven't had any communication from OM regarding this but I am now assuming whatever is wrong with it, will be covered under the warranty.

Hopefully that helps if anyone else has an issue in the future and purchased from Amazon UK (not a 3rd party seller on Amazon).
 
New toy arrived. I now have 4 genuine OM batteries and two of the USB C rechargeable Mathorn ones (think these are great).

I can sell two original batteries but any idea how these can be posted?

I have been told batteries cannot be sent via post?

I would offer them here first, the new battery that came with my OM1.2 and the new battery they threw in as part of the promotion.

I have about 7 Sony A7R2 batteries.

You may as well keep them as you can't send them I don't think.

Strange as Amazon & other retailers don't seem to have an issue getting them to you when you buy them.

I've sent batteries by Royal Mail.
Wrapped individually inside the package, I've told my local post office that they're batteries, they fixed a 'battery' label to the outside of the package, and then sent normally.
I have to assume that they are not breaking PO rules, so I would suggest it's worth having a chat to your local post office.

I've tried in the past locally.

May be worth asking again in case the rules have changed I supposed.

I only have the 40-150 F2.8 but might try some birding this year. Never tried before. Always just done macro and my dog running.


What do people think of the new 50-200 F2.8 lens?

Anyone tried it?

I’ve sold batteries to MPB in the past. OE ones of course.

There are some restrictions on what you can send through the UK and international post, so it's best to make absolutely sure you know what’s allowed.

Ps a local PO may not know the rules. I have complained before and been told my local PO would made aware of tge rules. Note this was another hobby not battery related.
 
Oh dear GAS time.

£400 for either a prime lens or a second hand Hamilton watch.

I have 8 watches and another watch will only do the same thing, tell the time.

Where as I don’t have a wide’ish aperture prime for the OM1,
Although I have not tried pushing the ISO on the 12-40, maybe I will try that first

Did you tell them specifically they were Lithium?
