Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

The 100-400 mkii is worth looking at Mike ,with the normal caveat of it needs decent light

I’m having my system wobble that I go through every few years…

For Nikon I currently have a d500, d600 and a few lenses which I haven’t used for 2 years or so. I also have a Fuji XS10 and 4 primes as my travel system.

I’d really like much better AF than the Fuji provides, especially for moving subjects. I look back to years ago when I had the e-m1 and that was very quick even though we all know it could be hit and miss.

I feel I will sell all my gear, there’s no point keeping stuff unused in a cupboard.

I don’t think I want the OM-1 as I like something I can slip in a coat pocket so I started looking at the OM-5, then the mk2 version then naturally progressed to looking at the OM-3. The additional CP features interest me for pure ease - I just wish you could get it in black…

You could always get it wrapped ...

You could always get it wrapped ...
.... @damianmkv Some camera bodies have neoprene rubber, not fabric, covers specifically made to fit well ~ Supplied aftermarket. Google is your fwend.

Not the best compared to the YouTubers I follow but I'm happy with the outcome considering it's taken with a micro 4/3's outfit.

EM1X with OM Systems 100-400 Mk2 lens @ 300mm F7.1 (cropped) on an iOptron Star Tracker Pro.

60 x 30 second subs stacked in Deep Sky Stacker and edited in Photoshop. ISO 1250.

Darks, flats and bias frames taken.

TARKA ON 'FIGARO' SHOW JUMPING by Robin Procter, on Flickr

.... Photography is always about the light. This was tricky but I am very satisfied with my new OM 50-200mm F/2.8 Pro.

I am a member of Tarka Abraham's ACE Team competing in international horse trials.

.... I like it too. It captures an atmosphere and also, if you look at it with 'Clint Eastwood eyes' (half closed) it is has texture and graphic pattern.

Photography is all about the light and you have captured its variety subtley.
Thanks. Right time / right place. Sun was coming in nicely from the right.
Walked through the same place today and completely different look

.... Nice one! A really practical combo for walkabout shooting. [Not what I ever do :D ]
Thanks Robin. It's a cracking lens.

What are people’s thoughts on the Sigma 30/1.4 on the OM-1 ?
Anyone got one or tried it ?

Just the right amount of movement for me, Alf
.... For me personally, it just has a tad too much blur softness on the sea's foreground to be comfortable on my eyes. But the concept and composition is great.

Well, my om1 body is going back to Oly to fix an intermittently stiff command dial. So back to the EM-10 for a few weekends it seems. Looks tiny on the 300m f4.
.... Same Control Dials problem on my OM-1 'Mk1'. So I'm sending it back to OM in Portugal for a second time!

I have only just seen your post ~ Has your issue been successfully resolved please?

not had that one but the 56mm one was a total dream lens you could use it it virtual darkness and still get good results

Another Chough shot from the sunlight last week. Rain here today so no chance of any photos :( . Om1 mkii + 150-400mm

.... I think you have forgotten the fact that both the 150-400mm TC Pro and OM-1 Mk2 are IP53 certified weatherproof.

Over the last few years (nearly 4) I have been out shooting all day on wild beaches (Nazare and Cornwall) and hail showers shooting surfers with that lens and merely rinsed it in a gentle bath shower afterwards.

Olympus/OM's fundamental ethos is to enable the photographer in all weather conditions.

Ive had an even more waterproof system (canon 1dmk3 and 500mmf4) and that nearly got wrecked in a heavy downpour so i always make sure to never push my gear too far. And of course iso20000 wouldnt have been enough as it was so overcast so it would have been pointless anyway to be honest

As robin lives doon souf Pete he doesn’t realise the crap Atlantic weather systems we have in the north west , ,went out today in nice sunshine a hour later they normal grey overcast obliteration moved in ,time to pack up again

.... Err, nearly all my surfer sessions are photographed on the Atlantic coast of Cornwall. Plus surf waves are best when it's very stormy. Also Jeff, do you know how high the big Atlantic waves of Nazare in Portugal are?

.... A friend of mine who shoots Canon and has been on trips with me would not agree that the Canon system is more weatherproof ~ He shoots Canon 5D4 + L lenses and has had to pay hundreds of pounds to repair at AJ Johnstone's after a wet session with me.

It’s not the rain robin , or the wet .. it’s the heavy grey overcast that seems to come in regularly up here . Everything turns a shade of dark brown and decent shots become impossibly hard to get
