Actually got the full set gull spotting it ,swooping in ,picking it up , washing it .then eating it

I bought the OM5 as my Fuji X-E1 is a bit long in the tooth technology wise, still takes great pictures, but AF is a little slow, rear screen a bit small and file transfer more awkward as no wifi.

The OM5 gives me a bit more oomph when required. Currently got the 12-45/4 and 40-150/4-5.6, will probably add the 75-300 at sometime and probably a prime with a wider aperture as well ( but already covered with that on the Fuji right now )

I’m thinking of doing something similar as I have an x-t20 which doesn’t really have very snappy AF. I’m just deliberating if I’d end up with an om1 a few months after getting an Om5

I decided to sell the OM5 as it was not getting used. Lost a small amount selling it to WEX.
Going to try a couple of cameras out at the photography show on Monday, see what takes my fancy

I remember i got subjection detection in video working once on my om1 with my dog but im sure after a firmware update i couldnt get it to work again. I think i had to try trick the camera to doing it as well.
Ill give it a go when my mkii comes unless someone else in here has a mkii ?

Just browsing on my phone. It seems I need to use C-AF with tracking. Not just C-AF. I’ll check when I get home.

It occurs to me that it might be worthwhile to setup one of the Custom Sets for such a preferred video setup?

PS IIRC Mike Lane who is I think now 100% mFT user with both OM and Panasonic, preferred his Panny G9 for video until the OM1 mk2.....

On my phone now but will have a look later for any relevant video?

I use a custom mode for each of my sets .it saves trying to remember every setting.. and as I just found out you have 4 C modes in normal use and another 4 if you move the function lever down .
So I now have 1 perched birds , 2 b.i.f , 3 sh2 , 4 video and 5 for focus stacked macro all checked and working
 
What is the feeling about the difference between the Olympus 8-25 and PanaLeica 8-18 wide-angle zooms, apart from the obvious focal lengths. I have a newly-bought OM3 and fitted it out with the PanaLeica 12-60 (used) of which I have previous good experience. I will be buying either wide zoom from the used market and there is an obvious price difference between the two. Is the Olympus worth the extra £150 or so?
 
Can’t speak for the 8-25 as I’ve never owned one, but the focal length is very tempting as a true walkable lens. I do however own the Panasonic Leica 8-18mm, and have done for around 8 years. Don’t know if it’s just my copy but it’s optically brilliant at all focal lengths, and having that F2.8 at the wide end has come in handy a few times. I also like the fact the the overall length of the lens doesn’t change when zooming. The Olympus 8-25 being a newer design, might be better optically, but to do that it would need to be pretty much flawless to beat the 8-18mm. The Panasonic lens is also around 100g (25%) lighter if that makes any difference to you ?

Yes, the lighter weight could well make a difference, and I am reassured but not surprised at your IQ findings. I think the only possible disadvantage is the focal length (but the f2.8 at 8mm is tempting). Decisions, decisions!
 
Is there anything better than new camera day ? Om1 mkii arrived today. I got slightly excited as it came in the box that has the 12-40 lens with it but opening the box that lens had been removed .. damit.
Only problem is now days of changing settings and fiddling around but i am really looking forward to seeing how it handles dragonflies in flight since people have said bird af is better on the mkii .

Only been out with it one day - yesterday, just to make sure it actually took photos. Naturally I'm missing the large viewfinder of the Zf, and some of the buttons are small and a bit awkward, but nothing I won't get used to. Certainly fulfils my brief of light but good IQ.
 
Looking for Godox TT350 flash (x2) for Olympus / OMS, posted in wanted section too.
