Funnily enough I had a run in with Andy Rouse as well. He was very shirty with me as well, to a really simple question.

I have a question please.
Just out of interest what would be conidered a high shutter count on an old EM1 mk1?.
I have just checked my camera having found out how to do it, and it has a shutter count of 16038.

I'd say that's very low.
 
I think the shutter in that version was rated to 150,000 actuations so as Pound Coin said, very low.
 
Thank you for the replies. Just checked my EM10 ii and that has a count of 9000, so both cameras are good for a while yet I think lol.
I have no intentions of getting rid of them. They were both gifts from friends who no longer used them.

After a little advice if anyone can help. I have an E-M5 iii. I also have a an OM-1n (i.e. the 35mm film one) with some OM lenses. I thought I'd pick up a cheap adaptor to mess around with the OM lenses on the E-M5iii. Mainly it's the 50mm 1.4 I'm interested in as a 100mm 2.8 equivalent is quite a nice thing to play with. To that end I bought a cheapo 'Fotga' adaptor from Ebay. If I mount it to the camera the screen goes black and I cannot adjust settings. With nothing mounted to the camera at all, I can see colours in the screen and can take a photo and adjust settings. So mounting the adaptor appears to lock up the camera a little.

I don't think there is a setting to sort this is there? And assuming not, I'll return this adaptor but are there any in particular I should be buying instead that are proven to work? I'd rather avoid spending proper money as this was meant to be a bit of fun but if there is something that will actually work for about £25, I'm all ears.

Also, on a totally separate note, any rumours of an OM-5 ii arriving in 2025?...

hmmm not got any manual lenses to play with at the moment but I do have adaptor which is a BESCHOI one marked OM-M4/3 German I think ,sourced from e.bay ,they are dumb adaptors so should work , but looking at mine there are couple of springs and a tab on the lens side of the mount , no idea what they do perhaps to open the lens aperture up ? if I recall when I was playing around with MF lenses I had a similar problem to you ,hence I bought this adaptor which actually does work

A few years ago I had quite a bit of m43 gear, starting with an e-m10 then an e-m1, then adding an x100t, then selling everything for Nikon before adding a 10.2 and then a1.2..

12-18 months back I got a Fuji xt20 and a few lenses as my travel bag and it’s been fine although I do miss a flippy screen, better AF and IBIS so I started to look at an xs10 or 20.

This lead me back to my Nikon gear ( a d600 and a d500 along with a couple of lenses ) which sit, sadly, in a bag unused. The d500 is great for motorsports which I used to love before life got in the way..

So I was wondering about selling everything and getting an OM-1. One camera that does it all…

Has anyone used a d500 and the OM-1 and can tell me how the AF compares ? I don’t really see any “wow, Fuji colours” either, maybe that’s just me….

Yep. I used to have the D500. Loved it at the time. Class leading. But it loses out to the OM-1 in performance. The AF on the Olympus, particularly for action is streets ahead. The value of Pro Capture and AF/ Metering at 50FPS means catching that perfect moment is much easier. Sensor at high ISO can be a bit noisy. But modern software mitigates that.
OM-1 is highly recommended.
 
Thanks @trevorbray thats reassuring…I need to read up on the OM-1 and also lenses in case anything has changed in the last few years..

Beautiful. I was able to use my Canon remote on my EM1iii and I think also on the OM1 too

Thanks for the compliment Trevor , just invested in a few four thirds lenses as I’m finding they work superbly with the OM1 as shown above and a far cheaper option than the same spec in MFT lenses ,acquired so far , 11-22 F2.8 , 50mm F2.0 macro , EC-14 tc , 50-200 SWD. F 2.8 and 12-60 SWD F2.8 .. total cost to date just under £450 what’s not to like
