Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Few from last week... OM5, Canon 200 2.8L and Viltrox EF-4/3 adapter.

Terrific combo in my opinion,. And yes I even get C-AF.

Only things that the adapter doesn't work well on - is on the OM1 series (Olympus) the AF is crap. Whereas the 5 series it's terrific, I had the EM5 II many moons ago and that was good...

Not sure why or what the issue with the AF on the fancier models is but hey. I wholeheatedly recommend this adapter to any 5 series users. Get yourself some nice Canon glass and you're laughing from the bank.

PS. Also used the 100-400 canon L on it. Pretty damn good too!

Lovely and really shows how big a wingspan they have.

Though it is oh so tight in the frame.

TFS:)
Only cropped top and bottom width is as shot

I thought that might be the case as was fairly sure you would not have cropped it so very tight.....you certainly scraped it in by the skin of your teeth ;)

The 2X converter will work with your 60mm, as long as you put extension tubes on the body. But the 90mm macro is a different animal, admittedly it's twice the price, but you are getting a lens that is incredible, but don't take my word for it, have a look at the umpteen reviews on Youtube about it.
Between the TC and the lens is a better place for an extension tube. It's not going to help if it's on the body. A 12mm tube is what's needed but not all have a large enough internal diameter to be useable.

What's going on with the pricing of the G9 MK II. It's usual for a camera at launch to hold it's release price for some months (until the initial uptake is satisfied) and then it slowly starts to drop (and the Grey suppliers - Panamoz and E-Infinity for example, have them at much lower prices still),

However the G9 II was launched in October last year (so getting on for 9 months ago) and is still the same price (virtually) as it was on launch day, and the Grey market have never stocked them. Are they in such short supply that demand is still outstripping supply, as in my circle of 20 or so Photographer friends (11 of whom use Micro four thirds as their main or second system), and not one of them has a G9 II (a very small sample I know).

Weirdly the OM-1 MK II appeared on the Grey sites very shortly afterwards and be currently be had for £1579, considerably undercutting the best UK price £2,100 (even with the current £350 OMDS cashback running) ?

You can combine the current Ambassador 10% discount with the Cash Back so even bigger savings. Plus IIRC when registered you get the extra 6 months on the warranty = 2 years & 6 months total

Buy it from HDEW and you get 3 years warranty as standard.
Fair point .....though the discount and Cashback gets the price down to £1629.10

Personally I don't buy Grey but everyone makes their own choice(s).

Doesn't seem to be any problem with supply as everyone that Camerapricebuster lists has stock. But there does seem to be a fair amount of churn as it also lists quite a large number of s/h but now sold cameras. The lack of reduction in price might just mean there's not as much margin in the RRP as OMDS provides.

I’m looking for a Olympus FL-LM3 flash in the wanted section on TP HERE

I ordered one just now and the order seemed to go through. Unfortunately it seems you can never have enough batteries for the OM1........
Yup! I decided and have just ordered one as a rotational extra 'spare'. :)

I personally prefer OEM ones and when on offer are a good idea :)

Mine's due to arrive any day now......
Have you had the confirmation of shipping with the tracking information?

PS when I ordered mine, as mentioned above, the webpage still said "on backorder" but the text below said IIRC "ready for immediate delivery". A of a mixed message!

No, not yet; just an order confirmation. I'm not getting worried.... yet!

Need some thoughts from the oly community here.
Im still on the fence about buying a OM1 Mk2 with the 12-40 AND a 12-100.

The fence Im on is go for it with the summer cashback and I'll get £350 back on the camera and £300 on the 12-100

OR

Wait until Black Friday, but would I be likely to get as much off??

Im not interested in any of the other lenses or the Mk1, it's this or nothing :-)
