Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Here a a few shots of the Skimmers on the Chobe river. I'm not sure that image 3 is actually a skimmer!

More lovely imagery....:)

As for #3 IMO a juvenile Skimmer as, though not in flight, here showing the look/colouring

PS digging a bit deeper 'Black Skimmer' are Americas native but the African Skimmer (looks identical???) is by its name African.

How good is the em10 iv with autofocus?
Moderate to all accounts ,for the price you would be better with a used em1-mkii or mkiii or even a e.M1X the latter having subject I.d

Thanks for every one's kind comments on my safari pictures. I get to do it all again in March. I have booked another of Pangolin's special deals starting on 16th March at US$1600. Two weeks later the price is over $7000! They class April as the beginning of high season and also reintroduce a hefty single supplement.
I think I will struggle to get different shots but have a few months to gather some "creative" thoughts. It is still rainy season in March but I think a heavy downpour on the river may make for some interesting shots and will test the water proof claims of the OM system!

I need you to stop now before I end up booking another one  I'm really wanting to go back again.

I'd definitely go for a juvenile Skimmer by the way. I also photographed a few. They don't have the lovely puffin like colours of the adults do they?
I have so many missed shots of Skimmers and a few that have come out. This one reminded me of X (formerly known as Twitter :ROFLMAO: )

Bebop. I said you would get the safari bug!
It is such a full on experience that you can't replicate in the UK. The perspective from the boats is what makes the biggest difference. Being able to get low down for shots of the elephants is fantastic.
In all honesty I should have waited longer before booking a return trip but at the discount they are currently offering it was just too good to pass on.
As for the skimmers! Tricky little so and so's to photograph aren't they. I also have hundreds of nearly good shots!.
If you do secret santa in your house you could book a place on the March pangolin trip, place the booking in an envelope then act really surprised when everyone opens their secret Santa's.
On a different subject. Batten down the hatches. The IOW looks like it is in for a battering tonight with the incoming storm. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you escape the worst.

I’m wondering if my holiday of a lifetime might be turned into my holiday of 2023, and can I have a lifetime at least once a year. Ski holidays for the Bebop family were being discussed today and I found myself angling for another solo photo trip… oh dear…

I agree the viewpoint from the boat is exceptional and it doesn’t spook the animals as much. I got a bit fed up trying to get the Skimmers- so tricky, but my biceps and triceps came back in considerably better shape for it :ROFLMAO:

Fingers crossed we don’t lose any trees or big branches and the new fence stays up. I’m not far from the south coast so we could get the worst of it. Sounding very windy now.

Bebop. If I may offer a small tip that I have found useful. Stop calling your pangolin trip a holiday. It was a workshop! That means you still need a holiday (which could be in Botswana).
Thats what I tell my family.

You two have cost me a lot of money!
Looking at your super photographs has meant that next year I have to take my wife on a non photographic (;)) tour starting at Victoria Falls/Chobe and then flying down to Jo'Burg to have another 4 days in the Kruger. It's all booked up!
Cheers! (y)

Good move, I am sure you will have a great trip.

Hope you stay safe bebop, we are near the coast in Hampshire and seem to be in a bit of a lull at the moment!

Yes all fine so far thanks. I think both of us may be near the eye at the moment, but I'm hoping it won't be too bad. Very few small branches down in the garden.

That sounds like a fabulous trip. I blame @Fordsabroad for getting me onto the safari idea and he blames me for telling him about the lens, so we can all just blame each other

rainy and winds picking up a bit in north Wales so far .. sodden ground ,rain ,wind and high tide mid afternoon may be the tipping point .winds always increase with the change of tides i.e coming in /going out anyway .. and its ALWAYS windy on a thurs anyway as that's bins out day for Friday pick up

Made me chuckle about the bins. Some places have been told not to put them out. I'm also Friday bin day :)

Have you still been managing to get out photographing in recent days Jeff? I managed a walk yesterday without camera and got a soaking.

It's good to know our cameras are so weatherproof, but it's not really a lot of fun in this weather.... might have to go and see the rough seas... at a safe distance.

No weather here (for a change!). Even the sun, when it appears from behind the resident Settle rain cloud, has some heat in it. River level uncharacteristically low. Touch wood.

It's unnearvingly very quiet and still at the moment in West Cheshire, even the bird feeders are very still and motionless - not even a breeze.

not as much as I would like its either weather related or to much month and to little money for diesel . been hammering it down all morning winds moderate at the moment , and her indoors keeps finding jobs that need doing :(:(:(:(

Not sure about this one.

I like it. I’ve got a few low key ones, and received comments of ‘they‘re very dark! I think you get away with raising the whites/lights a little, but I’m on an iPad so that may influence things.
I concur....,........post processing choices are very personal but as @Bebop says, there is probably something more that could be done to 'get more from the image'.
