Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

I think it was this promotion - has it been running since November or was that a different one? I bought my lens on 7th November and received cash back in my bank on 25th November
Sounds like the same one, I think I did mine about the 1st Jan

Has anyone had cash back from the recent Olympus promotion yet, just wondering how long it is taking roughly ?
.... How long it takes seems to vary. Reports here have been as long as a month if I recall correctly. Don't ask me why but hang on in there - The cashbacks do get honoured eventually.

I bought a lens from SRS on 25/12 and cash back in bank today, bought another lens a few days before that and had cash back last week.

EDIT - you can check cash back progress on olympus site if you are registered with them

I can see my lens and warranty details. But no mention of the cash back.
When I registered the lens it gave me the option to claim the cash back

Did you get a confirmation email to say they'd received your cashback request?

Edit: Mine looked like this... I've removed my details. I can see I didn't put the cashback claim in until 15th so it only took 10 days, but at a less busy time.
..

Yeah I have the email, but when I log in it does not show an active claim. I have mailed their support about it

Olympus website, under my bonus tab, was showing progress on 1 claim but not the other, Just looked now and although both have been paid nothing is showing on my bonu sunder completed.

Both payments were in bank before receiving email from Olympus telling me claim was successful.

Would think your claim will be ok as you have email from them re claim

Is anyone interested in buying the 90mm f3.5 macro 2:1 macro lens. How much do you think it will be?

I hate the b******t being pedalled with it the usual 180 mm equivalent is bad enough but saying it is 4:1 is just b******t as this is not an equivalent magnification is a fact.
Ignoring this I am aiming to buy one as long as they haven't done stupid things with it.

I reckon it will be just below £1k and yes keep touting 4:1 is ridiculous
Do you think it will have sync is capability?

.... I am provisionally interested depending on price and importantly (for me) whether it will mount the MC-14 / MC-20 or not.

.... Yes I reckon around the £1K but probably just above.

I think it will have Sync with the OM-1 - It would be lacking something if not.

I also think it will support in-body Focus Stacking.

I would also expect the filter size to be able to mount the OM STF-8 Twin Flash or at least with an included/optional adapter ring.

Well I have been thinking I now need to go very light on camera and lenses, so not sure when but you might see me back in here with a OM-DE- M5 III with either 45mm f1.8 and the 60mm f2.8 and just stick to shots of places and buildings.

I hope it has IS sync but it wont be a game changer for me just silly not to. I use flash for my macro so the IS is less of an issue and moving subjects are often a bigger issue

Not too fussed about TC's myself
It has to support focus stacking or it will be a flop but tethered stacking or an external controller would be a good inclusion. I may use it if works well enough.
They will have to get it to work with the STF-8 too

WOW !! That is so dinky and small, Thank you very much for that as it looks bang on for one camera one lens set up and very light.

Dave
I found some shots from the E-M5ii and 14-42mm EZ . A great little pocket set up but sadly I am considering parting with with both as they do not fit with my other working set up.

Remember you can work with camera you have with but not the one left at home.

Thank you very much for these Alf, funny thing is just before I ended up in hospital I was thinking about getting the EM 5 III again as I really did like it.

A dodgy ticker takes time to get over . So light is right

Was having a look on Wex and I see they have a new Olly 5 out, but as I really liked the Mk 5 III think I will stick to that one.
MPB already have eight OM-1's & three OM-5's ( was 2 yesterday). I wonder where these are coming from so quickly ? Users selling up already or maybe ones that were given out for people to try.
I was hoping the E-M1 Mk 3's would start to come doen in price, but sadly not yet.

Does it have to be new?

When I did have the OMD Mk 5 III as I like to call it the thing that shocked me was how light it really was in my hands, I always say OH I love this camera or that lens as I say it a lot in some threads but the only two cameras that I really have loved were the Fuji XF1 and the OMD Mk 5 III.

I am currently saving for a E-M1 Mk3, I then might sell my Mk2 and get a E-M5 Mk 2 or 3 and a 14-42 pancake for a simple stick in the bag type carry.

I have both the M5iii and the M1iii, and I have to say the 5 is by far my favourite. It’s only because of the live ND and hand-held high res that I’m keeping the 1. I am so tempted by the OM5, but finances say otherwise.

First I was going to totally sell all my Fuji lot and go all in with Olympus, but will see how I go again with the Mk 5 III as all I know and want now is really light kit.

This is 4.3:1
This was taken with my E-M1ii and Laowa 50mm f2.8 C dreamer with 26mm of extensions tubes and an M.Zuiko MC-14 teleconverter so that is about 4.3:1 on a 17.3mm wide sensor handheld and uncropped

Edit
Here is an uncropped 4.3:1 shot of a Collembola also taken handheld

All sorted now. It was because the original invoice was not attached to the lens on my Olympus. Sent them a copy and now all approved. Payment should be with me within 2 weeks

@Fuji Dave is there much to be gained from the Oly compared to your Fuji kit? Isn’t that pretty small and light? I’m only thinking that you bought and sold it all before, and the weight difference is probably very little. It’s good to see you’re well enough to think about picking up the camera again :)

Good points Bebop, on the Olly with lens it is 599 g and 530 g, on the X-T5 and 18mm it is 846 g.

300 grams doesn’t make that much difference ,have they not offered you a course at the gym to get your heart working again

Yes after being home for 4/5 weeks I can then start the rehab up, it is just like the COPD one I did years ago. Did me the world of good, that is why I will not rush on cameras yet as when I did the COPD one it was like 3 weeks later I was feeling great.
