.... Thats good to hear as I will mostly shoot with the grip attached. On the M1X it displays which battery number is being used - 1 or 2.Very minor thing I know, but just going though the OM-1 manual and spotted something I've been wanting for some time now. and that's when using the camera with an external battery grip and obviously twin batteries, the screen now shows you the percentage charge of both batteries (not just the one in the body).
(Read The Feckin Menu!)Received the Wex pre order confirmation email 12:15 on the 15thThat's good news, when did you order it? I put a pre order in on the 15th .
Ahh that old Chestnut. Every new camera and lens seem to have "better than expected pre-sales (or whatever phrase they choose to use)", I can't help think it's a marketing ploy to keep demand high.I heard there has been a better than expected take up on the new camera and cameras are only being delivered to customer that ordered upto the 20th Feb everyone else will have to wait until April. That was from LCE where I ordered mine from so, it's now April for me.![]()
Gonna have to pick it up in the morning (Weds)b****r. I was out when Parcel Farce attempted delivery.
.... Great natural colours. And ISO 2000 too - Impressive! On my E-M1X I don't like to go above ISO 1250. I can't wait to receive my OM-1.My OM-1 arrived today. Got to say its superb
This is one of the first shots taken this afternoon
iso2000, 1/800sec, 420mm. f/5.6
The bird eye detect is amazing, got a lot of new stuff to learn.

.... Hmmm, I think that the numbers of actual pre-orders factually illustrate the weight of demand. All camera manufacturers have the task of gauging that demand and producing an efficient quantity of units to satisfy it without creating unsold stock with all its inherent inefficiencies in the present day world.Ahh that old Chestnut. It might be my skepticism to be fair, but companies like Apple have been great at 'tactics' like this over the years and now I'm seeing it more and more with camera manufacturers. I just can't see how demand estimations are off so often. Now if it was just down to chip shortages and they can't meet demand then that would make more sense.... Buyers of anything are fickle and also perhaps not as well off financially as in past years. It makes much better commercial sense to produce new goods efficiently and then respond to the hitherto unknown demand subsequently.
I do not see it as a marketing ploy or hype.

been a lot of rain in Wales lately LOLAnother stunning result! Presumably you were in a hide.......How did you get down so low?
To be honest Jeff, in your hands I doubt you would see much difference from the MKIII vs the OM-1, as you make that camera sing !
I can't honestly see how any camera could improve those results.
You really don't need an OM1There’s a difference between need and want . Unfortunately this year I have a lot going on at a personal level now enhanced by rising fuel prices , it may yet happen who knows , but my mkiii is only 8 months old as well and SWMBO also takes pics so price fairy stories won’t workSuch a beautiful bird @the black fox. I do feel sorry for you with such an outdated camera - it's obviously holding you back - not!You really don't need an OM1
I agree, just wondering which film you use in that old cameraSuch a beautiful bird @the black fox. I do feel sorry for you with such an outdated camera - it's obviously holding you back - not!You really don't need an OM1
I wonder if anyone can help me, or think of something I haven't...
in preparation for buying the OM1, I sold my Olympus EM1ii to my friend (who doesn't live locally). It has been faultless for me and as he said when he received it, it looks like new. He went out and tried it with a friend's lens on it and it was fine, and today he bought a second hand lens and put that on it. He has spent some time setting it up for birds in flight and it has just died on him.
He has tried charging the battery. I asked him to press the info button (just in case he was accidentally showing a very underexposed scene). I asked him to check the card door was properly closed and to remove and reseat the lens. None of this has worked.
Can anyone think of anything else it could be?
I did once have a Canon battery die on me. It would indicate it was fully charged, but the camera wouldn't turn on with it at all. That is the only thing I can think of, unless the lens could have caused a problem? Has anyone every heard of this happening before?
Herring Gull by Mr Snappy, on FlickrI have had the same thing happen on my MK 3, I did the same as Maaten and put another battery in and it worked fine. there was nearly 100% battery left in the one I took out. Hope this works for you Bebop.I wonder if anyone can help me, or think of something I haven't...

This has happened to me occasionally where it looks like the camera has died, but actually it's OK. I think I resolved the issue by switching batteries; reseating the same battery didn't work. I've also had issues in the past with the lens not registering on various Olympus bodies, mainly the E-M10II and original E-M1 MkI though.
So at a minimum I think you need to try a different battery and different lens (both preferably Olympus branded) on the body before giving up, possibly other people might have additional suggestions? Trying a different SD card may also be worth a shot.
Thank you both so much, that is really helpful. It is so strange as it has been faultless for me. This has been a big disappointment for both of us.I have had the same thing happen on my MK 3, I did the same as Maaten and put another battery in and it worked fine. there was nearly 100% battery left in the one I took out. Without knowing the exact circumstances of use , it’s hard to define .. I.e has your friend changed something in the menu and forgotten to mention it .. it’s rare for one to just cease working without a causeThank you both so much, that is really helpful. I am hoping tomorrow he can meet up with another friend of ours who has the same camera and trying his lens and battery might fix it, so fingers crossed!!
