Yes Panasonic ones all work but not with total comparability .as to changing group titles on here the old adage applies ….if it’s not broke don’t fix it. !

It is sometimes a good idea to try and double check what people are saying as some issues will be user error but any true and significant issues would be very disappointing as the point of entry into the system is that kit is supposed to be compatible.

.... And that is a perfect example of how valuable this thread is in sharing information which is helpful to those who would be considering mixing m4/3 brands in combo.

.... As I understand it (but I come from the Canon EOS system), m4/3 was intended to be a common standard whereby mixed branding between camera bodies and lenses would not be a problem. But in reality there are limitations which can be enough to be a deal breaker.

Hopefully these will be few and far between and limited to specific lenses and instances otherwise what's the point of MFT? It's a long time since I tried to keep kept track of MFT and regularly read and watched the news and reviews so although I do seem to remember some issues it's all rapidly fading from my mind. With all these things there's also the danger of conflating real issues no matter how niche or localised to specific kit with personal preferences and at worst maybe a little bit of fanboyism sometimes creeping in.

The Oly side of MFT seems to be more active on here and at one time I had at least the suspicion that some reviewers had a bias and regarded Oly as the photography choice and Panasonic as the video choice. That's how I perceived it anyway

.... Hmm, hasn't it been well publicised by users on the hyperinterwebbynet that in practice the basic principle of m4/3 being a universal system has not been adhered to by the various m4/3 manufacturers in their efforts to increase their own brand's market share and profits?

All reviewers unless it is their everyday job, present their reviews with a degree of bias. Afterall, the product they have bought is usually following research into what suits them best personally and they are naturally sharing their justification for and enthusiasm for their choices. That doesn't mean that they won't also point out any weaknesses but no camera or lens is perfect [except the Olympus ED flagship 150-400mm TC Pro of course :ROFLMAO: ]

Does anyone use the PLumix 12-60 ( the slow one ) ? I have a 12-32 but want something longer whilst keeping small / lightweight form.

I have been looking at the O12-45 Pro but someone elsewhere mentioned the 12-60. Similar size I believe, more range but at the cost of weather sealing and speed.

Yes I’ve got this - I used to use it on the G9 and it was very good, now no G9 so using it on various other bodies!

I had one on a g80 a few years ago .. a very nice little lens .with a usefull range

Size is almost identical to the Oly 12 45 but it is lighter. It's very sharp at the wide end but gets a bit softer at the tele end judging from my unscientific tests - but it's still pretty good. I'm believe it is weather sealed as well?

For maximum IQ I would choose the Oly 12 45, but for a slightly longer range in good light the Panasonic 12 60 is brilliant. It's also a lot cheaper. I picked up my (new) copy for less than £200 on eBay I seem to remember.

Maybe man maths needs to come in. Buy the P 12-60 for £170, if i don't like it I can sell it and buy the O12-45 which will only cost me £230 :tumbleweed:

That £230 for the 12-45 would be a bargain

I have the Oly 12-45 and it’s very nice
 
Obviously plus the £170 I’d already forked out for a different lens…

I know that there was a comment about the amount of bird photographs on this thread, I believe that it was tongue in cheek but to add to the conversation I think one of the main reasons for that is because the camera is more capable than most to undertake this Genre without carrying huge lenses. I have only had the camera a short while and am still getting used to it but the quality of the 300 with a 2x converter is amazing at the price point. I will shortly be starting various short breaks in my motorhome and promise to bring other subjects to the thread!
Meanwhile here are a few birds, taken in uninspiring light and cropped quite heavily but still very acceptable (in my opinion

Jeff (Black fox) You asked if I would try the 100 - 400 with the X2 converter. I gave it a short try yesterday but gave up quite quickly. There simply was not enough light for the combo to cope with. It would not attain focus quickly or hold it and overall was very slow. I must emphasise that this was a quick test and the results may be much better in good light.

Excellent detail. I use the 300mm + MC14 teleconverter and it is amazing.

Cheers Gordon given up on that idea anyway I have though bought a Nikon 300 f4af-s lens with a faulty AF motor to use in MF and loving it works well

.... I had the same experience with the x2 MC-20 combo on that lens but the x1.4 MC-14 worked well and I used it a lot. It's just one of the limitations of that particular lens at its price point - I think it's extremely good value-for-money but mounting a x2 compromises it. Mounting a MC-20 on an Olympus 150-400mm TC Pro is an entirely different story though!

So-called supercars have never done anything for me, even when I occasionally had to drive one in my job. Nice photo though, showing the capabilities of this lens.
 
Managed a shot of some deer today while out for a walk. This is why I chose micro four thirds. There isn't a hope in hell that I could carry an 800mm lens around or use it hand held!
400mm, F6.3, ISO 1600.

A second pheasant has now appeared in our garden and has just met the other. They are a bit wary of each other.
