Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

I’m sure they have. It’s all relative. What’s “best” isn’t the same as what’s acceptable. You’ve got to take personal requirements on board and not be hide bound by tests or other people’s views. For my use, superzooms often are too heavy and/or bulky. You may not mind this.

Yep that’s true the 24-200 was way to heavy for me (although acceptable for a FF super zoom) but the 14-150 is under 300g ! My little 12-45 is 254 !

Godrevy Lighthouse on a grey dull day with pretty poor light - the waves were good though but I moved pretty quickly after this wave !

Still pleased with the amount of detail on my version in LR though :)

That might be a good candidate for a moody mono conversion. (y)

Thanks, Trevor. It was just a quick shot on the way home from some waterfalls.

I’m thrilled to be back in the Olympus fold, I had a brief foray into the world of Fuji, but for some inexplicable reason did not enjoy the camera, strange isn’t it, I could not put my finger on why I felt absolutely no enthusiasm to go out to take pictures with it! I now have to reacquaint myself with the intricacies of the Olympus menu system, something to keep me entertained!!

o.k how far can you push i.s.o on a MFT sensor a lot of peeps scream 3200 is to high , but after a friend sent me some photos from a sony A1 at high iso it started my mind rolling so this morning I took this , 100-400 lens shooting into a tree covered dark corner of the garden at 25600 i.s.o .room for a bit more exploration I think. p/p in Lightroom then topaz de-noise Ai and sharpen Ai .a few short years 400i.s.o was to much unreal

Is Topaz de-noise noticeable better than LR ?

I can't speak for the most recent LR but IMO the following are in a different league compared to noise reduction in LR version 6.14 perpetual license.

DxO PhotoLab4 & it's Deep Prime noise reduction and Topaz DeNoise are best in class for noise reduction.

PL4 is a full blown post processing program compared to Topaz DeNoise that is only for removing noise as a standalone and AFAIK can be used as a plugin with Photoshop....not too sure whether it integrates with LR.

Both the above have trial versions so that you can test them yourself :)

I think the demo photo at 25,600 I.s.o really speaks for itself .. a few years ago 400 I.s.o was considered unusable ,but we still listen to the pundits that won’t shoot above 3200 I.s.o

Anyone got an 8-25 on order ? I’ve ordered one through my local LCE :)

Just wondering how long it will take to arrive ?

Have to say Jeff that is pretty impressive I guess your usual work flow applied here I like you think too much is made of the so called poor ISO performance of M4/3 particularly if you are prepared to purchase Topaz De-noise which thanks to your feedback sine you have used the software I invested in the software and it give great confidence when faced with some times tricky light conditions to move the ISO upwards
heres another one at 25,600 i.s.o

Cheers for the vote of confidence terry . Every new function I try with this camera works far better than expected , as for reports of poor I.s.o ,and or lens sharpness and a few other problems peeps complain about I tend to file them in the know-eyed- deer box

Just seen that you can buy Topaz denoise ai on eBay for £11.99 - presume this is to good to be true ?

Smells of fish to me.

The EULA states the license is non transferable, so on the face of it the eBayer is selling cracked software unless they can prove otherwise with a confirmable with Topaz method!

If someone is stupid enough to do that , then there in for the high jump if topaz get a sniff of it .. especially now your bank account is linked to e.bay
