I've already got the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 but I always feel I could do with it being a bit wider.......I've also got the 9-18mm so it's not the end of the world if I don't get one but would like something a bit faster for evenings etc

I use an i40 which is great I had been using a Di466 which is good but bigger and not as sofisticated
I could part with the Di466 though.
I had a Metz flash that failed before I used up two sets of batteries which as it was over two year old Mezt and Wex were not interested.

Just skim read this but based on the test shots there's not much difference in field of view. The only real difference is speed of autofocus.

I love the Olympus 17mm f1.8 but I'm not convinced it's that different to your 20mm for most situations.

I do have the Olympus 17mm f2.8 pancake which I'd like to sell after I bought the f1.8 to replace it but I suspect that's not what you're after?

I note in your thread one went for £150 recently - when I got mine privately for £220 I thought I'd got a great deal!
 
Looking for a shoulder or sling bag to carry my gear in when I'm not using my backpack. I'm after something for use in urban areas, or when out with the family that gives me quick and easy access to gear without having to take the bag off to access my gear. It would need to carry a single m4/3 body (ideally able to fit with the grip, but not a deal breaker), a PL 12-60, PL8-18 and Oly 40-150mm Pro as a full load out. I have been look at the Think Tank Speed Freak or the Mindshift Photocross 13, but am very interested to hear what others are using and more importantly, their user experiences.

Any info greatly appreciated.

If it's the one it carries my Olly EM1.2, the 12-40 and 40-150 f/2.8 PRO lenses + grip, and would if needed fit another 2 (small) lenses (of similar size to the 12-40, but not another 40-150). It could probably hold the camera with grip fitted but I don't generally use the grip. If grip was fitted it'd probably require moving a velcro divider side-ways and maybe not having room for a 3rd lens, or at least it'd be squished underneath the camera / grip.

For me it's perfect as it's exactly the right depth for the Olly 40-150 f/2.8, even with the MC14 fitted. I have batteries and cards in a pocket on the lid, lens caps and some other bits in an inside pocket, and filters and some other bits in front pocket, so it currently takes ALL my gear. It doesn't have a strap for a monopod however, which I miss from my back-pack, although my m4/3 gear is so light I don't need the monopod anymore to be fair. It also has a permanently attached pull-out rain cover inside the front pocket.

Shoulder strap is big and comfy, and it's a doddle to swing round / open up etc. without putting it down, the thing I hated about my old back-pack.

My only issue is it takes the camera with 12-40 f/2.8 fitted, but not with 40-150 f/2.8 fitted, so if I'm using the 40-150 and want to put my gear away to move on, I need to swap lenses then stow everything away.

edit: just checked my Wex order history, my bag is the Lowepro Nova 180, but it doesn't have "SH" in the model no. and was £20 less than the one linked above, still looks the same though.

edit2: home now, my shoulder bag is indeed a "Lowepro Nova 180 AW", I guess a "mark 1" version of the bag linked above.

Yeah, I know theres not that much in it but for me i think it would be enough in tighter spots and the faster focus as well would be good. Cheers

Thanks for the reply Mark. I have one of the smaller Nova bags, and it’s really served me well. However, if it can’t take my G9 with the Oly 40-150mm f2.8 attached, then that’s a bit of a deal breaker for me. Despite its focal range and size, I quite often use it as a walk around lens, so any bag would have to be take it attached.

I use a Vanguard 36 https://www.wexphotovideo.com/vangu...Aso5gGoF8wt98L_b8lohkxrkLLlXxfERoCehAQAvD_BwE . I really like it, very light. Can't fit the 100-400 on the em5ii but your 40-150 might be ok. Anyway it's light, conpatively inexpensive, has two external pouches for water etc and for me works well. There are possibly more padded bags and I wish they had added one more compartment for a lens (there is space) , though the flash can fit there.

just been donated a few decent condition M42 thread lenses ,has anyone used these via a adaptor on there m4/3 cameras and are the results worthwhile ,before I invest in a adaptor

got a helios 44m 2/58 mint ,super travenar 35mm f2.8 ,135 f3.5 unknown Russian brand ? and I also have a mint nikkor 50mm f1.4 m/f not sure of which nikon adaptor that requires

Very nice find and well caught.,....but please say which lens and because of the hidden aspect did it need the small focus points to "see" between the reeds???

Yes....300mm f4 and set to small focus point on C1. I had been utilising All points on C3 to try and capture Sand Martins.....not too much luck there....they are just so fast and so small.

Thanks for the info and insight. As for the sand martins, hard but worth the attempt but was this trying with C-AF with or without tracking........full AF points or one the groups (9 matrix or 5 matrix)? Edit ~ any other setup pointers like frame rate, and have tried the Capture Pro setting ?

Rubbish on anything other than the EM1 Mark II. How good this is compared to DSLR's I'll leave others to comment (y)
 
I'm afraid I'm no expert! But the good news is that I am not far (assuming you are in the UK!).

So all me recent DamselFly, DragonFly and these were taken in Spain. I have found here at least, best place is near the river or canal. It helps I am in the countryside and there are lots of wild flowers etc, that said there is a massive lavender plant that tends to have loads of insects, bees butterflies and this week 2 HummingbirdHawkMoths on it. Happy to give you specific directions to where I have taken them, but might be a bit hard to find as staying on farm with wife's family (who are spanish and don't speak english) but the river should be easy enough to locate. I am essentially 3ish hours south of Santander (got the 24 hour ferry - you can double up with Whale and Dolphin watching on the way over and back) and alternatively about 3 hours northwest from Madrid, closer to Vallodolid if you can fly there.

If you come here in June they have the Storks nesting which is very cool to see but they are all gone (here anyway) now. Here now you have loads of House Martins but I'm finding those virtually impossible to take.

For BIF against a clear background or sky I use Pro capture low with all focus points set. Personally Ive not been very happy with tracking (probably spoiled by my D500) so I just use C-AF.

That’s what I thought, which is why I was confused when Gandalf said the Pen-F was good for taking shots of kids moving around quickly :confused:

I dont know.....it may well be, but the em1ii will do a better job though at a significantly higher cost.
 
one from the om-10 mkii the other night ,P/L 100-400 quite impressed with the definition at around 3 to 4 miles distance

My understanding is that the Pen-F AF-C and tracking is inferior to the EM5-II which is pretty poor to begin with. So whilst you will be able to get pics of kids running around with skill, and or large depth of field, it’s not the best tool for the job.

The budget option for reasonable C-AF on Olympus would be the original E-M1 MkI. It's not as good as the E-M1 MkII but it's still usable. When I first got the E-M1 MkII I actually got worse results using C-AF on the MkII but changing the tracking sensitivity to +2 seems to have resolved that. Since then the C-AF on my MkII has outperformed the C-AF on my MkI. I'm shooting junior parkrun as a volunteer on most weekends so it's usually kids running towards me, sometimes at great speed!
