Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

No. Stood beside lineside, just a wire fence. The fencepost was buried in undergrowth so nothing to lean on.

Good muscle tone and breathing control. Low shutter speed photography is something I have always liked to do but is getting harder the older I get!

I look forward to trying low shutter speeds

When I had my Canon 40D with my 24-105mm IS lens I took this one at 1.3seconds, I was leaning against the tunnel wall ;)

Yonks ago I had the Konica Minolta A2 and that had IS ~ I took some low speed ones similar to the above ghost people;)

Thare no comparison with any Canon or Nikon.....the Oly IBIS makes the camera real fun for low light photos.

Yup, can't wait to test just how low I can make the shutter speed :D

Not a great shot of anything, sitting at my computer, when I first had the camera, working out the menu. I took this shot and realised it was a 2 second exposure. The detail on the knurling is crisp and sharp zoomed in twice what flickr can do.
WTF??? I guess image stabilization works by Pete Banks, on Flickr

Couldn't find the original, so downloaded from flickr and cropped. 2 seconds!

You got some old school vape gear there! - 5yr vaper here btw, puffing on an OBS engine atop a Smoant Cylon ;)

That is some impressive IBIS alright if it's 2 seconds.

It impressed the pants off me. My friend got the Oly EM1mk2, saying about what he read in the blurb about stabilization. I said my canon has is in the lens, but, I've been hankering for a Pen-f since it came out.
A big birthday came up, and if I don't get it I never will.
Strangely enough that crappy photo just totally converted me to the gods of Olympus. Hardly picked up the Canon since.

Pete B....

I may well be selling my Pen-F in the coming weeks, Silver and very very low shutter count.

I love it for street photography and mainly use it as a monochrome camera, the menu’s are a torture to navigate. I mainly use it with 25mm or 75mm primes. Also i’ve Just purchased the GX80 to go along side my G9.

I intially found the menus completely overwhelming on my Em1ii and frequently after altering something it would take ages to get back to where I wanted. That often lost me the shot.
I was on the point of giving up and picking up my Nikon gear again but I persevered and having allocated three most used sets and got the grasp of the super control panel...Im now finding it much better and the Nikon kit is gone.

Another with the 30mm macro and the em10 ii

Superb! and at ISO2000 so clean :)

What is the focusing distance for this to be such a frame filler?

Couple of inches then a crop. It was in a buttery place so I think they were used to lenses being shoved into their faces :D

Wow. Looks better on Flickr too as TP's started softening images posted from flickr for some reason :( Do you use extension tubes or anything, or is this just the 30mm and then cropped?

Some seriously impressive pics from both Olympus and Panasonic appearing of late . Been processing some of my old canon shots in the last week and they simply don’t compare to what these babies produce ,5 months into the change over and I can’t see a reason to change back .

I was actually looking at some of your Canon pics last night, from the M thread. I thought they [along with samples from others in that thread] were very impressive, detail looked incredible with that 55-250 STM, for such a cheap lens. I Was seriously considering something like an M100 with an adapter and some old EF primes as something to play with on side, or even switch to! I love the Pany, don't get me wrong, but it's p***ing me off - again! The hinge that they 'fixed' for me is coming loose again :/ I also want to get more into video and the AF still sucks tbh for that with M43. Canon's dual AF looks amazing in comparison. I have a lovley 15mm Pana-Leica lens coming today, it better impress the hell out of me or my pondering might become action!

If you don’t get on with the PL 15mm I may be interested

I was looking through old pics from my Canon 7D and expensive glass. All that heavy carrying about. When I got arthritis in my finger I moved to smaller cameras (Sony A6000 and EM10ii). For my hobby I'm more than happy with the results I get.

No tubes. I never could get on with those things. 30mm on the camera then a crop (y)

That was a exceptional lens with the m3 , but once you start wanting more reach your back into heavy and expensive glass ,then even if it’s affordable you need to start lugging mono pods or tripods about , buying the Olympus om 10 Mkii has really opened my eyes to the Olympus cameras and I would be waiting to see what’s available on that side of things first ,
I think if you did move to the canon M cameras you would very quickly be moaning about build quality ,I.e plasticky ,and very very basic menu systems compared to what you now use , having to use a adaptor as well is very constrictive

I've been watching a million videos :D one plan is to get the 80D with the M100 as a side/travel option, I can't see me needing any big wildlife lenses, a standard cheap tele does for my needs. It's only a pondering though, another option is I might get a Viltrox adapter for the G80 to get the couple of Canon primes I fancy, it might cure that itch!

I’m currently selling off a load of Nikon gear for a mate that’s dyslexic , I have two large boxes full of very juicy prime lenses going to m.p.b tomorrow ,that was his wishes he has also given me a old DSLR for doing all the admin work for him , I was sat on the fence as to whether to keep it or move it on ,the sheer weight of the lenses etc has stopped me in my tracks .
Things have moved on Keith we are 95%of the way there with m4/3 personally I think it’s worth sticking to what you now have and wait for future developments in either this or another brand before jumping ship , I don’t think there’s anything else better out there without spending mega bucks

As for your problems with the g80 I would be creating merry hell with your retailer .

As for the 80d and m100 option I,be had two 80ds and several m series in the past ,all my canon gear is now gone nuff said

Anyone have any experience of the Godox TT350 O flashguns for Olympus?

I need a flash solution but unsure of whether to go for the Nissin i40 unit or chance one of these?

What do you guys use if using flash?

I haven’t yet found the need for a flash gun though I did look at the Godox the other night ! But I keep in my bag for emergency’s a rogue safari flash extender that worked rather well with DSLR in the past , cheap and cheerful but certainly does the job
