I'm not Alf, but when I did some pixel peeping tests between the Oly 14-42 EZ and the Panny 12-32 on a em10ii, I thought the Oly was sharper with better colours and decided to keep it and returned the 12-32. Of course that was just my subjective opinion of the results.

The 12-32 also felt more delicate and plasticky, I don't think it'll take much rough handling to cause issues with it.
 
Does anyone use the P12-60 ( not the PL ) and if so is it any good ? Am thinking about a small zoom but don’t need f2.8

I found the opposite, I found the 12-32mm sharper. Plus I preferred the extra width and the manual zoom so kept the 12-32mm. I now have the 12-40mm f2.8 though which is superb :)

On the way is the EM1 MK2 kit with the 14-40 & 40-150 zooms plus the 1.4 TC and a couple of SDHC cards.

FWIW the kit bundle I ordered online directly from Olympus because as well as the free battery grip they had a summer promo voucher to take £75 off the price. The TC and memory cards are via Am*zon

Looking forward to it all coming by mid next week........I have a spare Arca Swiss plate that I hope will fit the body aok (otherwise a Kirk from WEX or Acratech from Rigbys will be on my wishlist list) this is so that I can use my BR sling strap (note~ just need to suss out a tether as safety measure, will probably use a couple of OpTech connectors ;) )

So watch this space :D

PS on a related note as per one of my other posts somewhere further ^^^^ I will be selling some Canon kit to defray some of this not insignificant outlay. This based on the raison d'etre of buying into Olympus will (likely) include my 100-400mm mark2 :( (note ~ the AS plate from which I think will be ok for the 40-150mm...........IBIS or not there will still be times when I want to Gimbal it, or so I perceive at the moment ;) )

Oh, FWIW and sorry it if I am teaching anyone how to suck eggs.

By joining the MyOlympus website and registering they add 6months to what I understand is the standard 2year Warranty.......not too sure yet if there are any "benefits" going forward to being enrolled on that community???

I've got a "Ultrasharp" 75mm M39 enlarging lens.

I may just spend £30 on a M43 adaptor for it to see if will do effective macro.

then you should have bought the p/l 100-400 total dream glass, but in fact unless this weather abates its totally useless out there for wildlife at the moment

I did look into it but it did not stand out for amongst other reasons the build quality :(

Also, one function I wish to experiment with is Pro Capture and that AFAIK would not work with any Panny lens......indeed not even with all Oly lenses. Looking ahead, I hope to hire the 300mm f4 and that by all accounts goes well with the x1.4TC making it a 420mm f5.6........so more reach and a tad faster than the PL 100-400mm

PS as for the weather, it is forecast to get better(?) again next week, questionable thereafter???

PPS though the weather in North Wales has been much more changeable compared to the scorched South East.

Hi Jeff,

I have a quandary and a large chunk of credit at WEX burning a hole in my pocket..... I wanted the PL100-400mm but am also torn between the PL 8-18 F2.8.8-f4 wide angle lens. I have all my bases covered with the 12-40 & 40-150 F2.8 Pro Lenses and t/c. Matched this will the Oly 75mm f1.8 and Pana 1.4mm Summilux. These are paired with the Pen-F and G9.

My question, is I do occasional birding and architecture & Landscapes. Why is the 100-400 a must have Lens?

I Haven't picked my Canon kit up since I got the Pen-F, guess I'll need to get rid of it too.
 
A Couple more from RSPB Sandwell. Funny thing my friend has an EM1 Mk2, kinda shoots the same things in jpg, but in his shots it's all about the bird so heavily cropped. I lean towards the picture with a bird in it.

Same here, I prefer an image featuring a bird rather than a close-as-possible bird 'portrait' - as nice as they can be, I like to see their environment. I have to say though, that is the first time I have seen a tagged Robin, wonder what that's about?

I got closer in shots of this Heron, but this was one of my favs from that outing, as it shows it's feeding spot nicely, lovely weir too in the Boyne valley.

Posting a small size because it's not Oly .... I really wish we had an all in M43 thread tbh -

Seems kind of silly to split them, I know it's the 'trend' on here, I mean there's about 5 various Fuji threads where they only need one - I said so when I was shooting Fuji - I also said similar when I shot Nikon FF, all the split up Nikon FF threads just divided discussion, if anything these specific threads do only that - split up like minded people. Not sure why they have to be so very specific. I can understand having different threads for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, M43 etc ... and from there FF/APsc/M43 ... but is there a need to split them further?

Agreed especially as lenses are so interchangeable and no-one seems tied to brands - people just ask about Oly vs Panny kit (or 3rd party) be that lens or camera and sensible discussions then follow!

Yet to get my EM1.2 so can you say which setting was this in regard to frame rate........18 or 60fps???
 
I had it set on low at 8fps and 10 before and 10 after .

Hi guys!

Been a while since I contributed to here. Last night I wandered down to the beach to try out some reflection shots and also get the blood moon. My longest is only a 12-40mm f//2.8PRO but that being said I had a lot of fun.

I know I have some large sensor dust problems, can anyone recommend some sensor cleaning stuff? I am always a little wary of doing this and have never done it for my E-M5 II before. Any recommendations are welcome!

Nice set of tranquil seascapes :)

Re: IBIS type sensor cleaning ~ I have read that other than a blower brush they should not be cleaned by the user. I know the same is said of all sensors and I have dry cleaned my Canon.........but the unique construction with IBIS and the claimed anti static coating puts the Oly sensor into a different category. I also read that the Supersonic Wave auto cleaning is very effective.

If it's the Em1 mkII I'm not surprised, that thing has phenomenal IBIS
