Another with the 7-14mm

Sorry to hear that Glenn, can we see pictures of the damage :)

The damage to the camera and lens is fairly superficial. I'd hate to think what would have happened if the 75mm had been on the front.

The significant damage is to the EVF. This is what my display cabinet at home looks like (Taken with GH2 and 12-50 in macro mode)

Looks like the 7-14 took a hefty hit, the fixed hood probably saved even more damage if it was another lens.

Are you going to send it away for repair?

Yes, it bounced a couple of times but I reckon the sturdy plastic saved the lens. I'll send it for repair after Christmas, it will just lie on a shelf over the holidays if I send it now. The EVF is useable and the rear screen is fine, so I'll get use out of it over the holidays.

I've just ordered a replacement eyecup for it, the rubber on the original came undone :(

Just wondered...

How are these for dust bunnies?

My Panny G1 seems to be almost completely immune and has never required a wet clean and I just wondered in the latest cameras are equally good?

Sorry about your camera Glenn

Dust bunnies on my old Canon 5D2 were awful, always there. I do a fair bit of HDR and dust bunnies from the Canon used really show up, even after a clean. I've not had to clean a single m43 camera sensor in any of the 6 bodies I've owned

A couple from today when I was on the way down to the Boatyard.

The river was at a very high tide, and the Saltmarshes were flooded; this is not the river, it rarely floods this far up. The things you can see in the second photo are ancient mooring pontoons. Last year, on another high flood, a couple of these actually floated into the river, and caused havoc on the new mooring pontoons.

Lovely location there Les, interesting that the water is so high too. I'm not a fan of the borders though.

Thanks Julian, I had to get my feet wet to take those !!

I know what you mean by those particular borders, they seem to divide people, a bit like marmite.

Thanks for the dust bunny feedback.

I think I'll be looking mostly at the Panny G6(?) as I like the articulated screen and Nex6 as I like the RF type layout but I keep thinking of the Oly as the IS would help a lot with my legacy lenses.

Julian and Les superb photos, great contrast in both sets and showing just how good this gear can be and Glenn, I feel for you Buddy.

Here is a shot I took today with the panny 100-300 on the om-d.

Thanks Alby,

That pheasant is a corker. The detail is superb and the dappled lighting is wonderful !!

Lindsay, my pheasant was from Arundel too. Here is one of the swans and a friendly Robin from the same day, the morning light was really nice.

That's lovely Alby. Morning being key - by 2pm the light as gone and it's getting dark!

Love the Robin!

Almost got him to hop onto my finger but about 10cm's away he thought better of it and took off.

Lindsay, wonderful images yet again; you do make great use of that 40-150 zoom

Thanks guys - I do like that lens a lot. The overall balance of the OMD is unbelievably perfect, whatever lens is attached to it. I hardly know I've got the camera on me, it's quite amazing. On the other hand my XE1 weighs about the same but feels 'heavy' in use, probably because the X zoom upsets the balance of the camera which makes it more of a chore to carry. So pleased I bought my OMD.

Alby, nearly missed yours

That Robin is superb. Maybe next year, I might have to consider a longer zoom, I keep scaring the birds away when I try at the moment LOL !!

Well it's happened again, after enjoying the m43 camera gear I have accumulated for a few months, I now have a mental fight going on - selling all my M43 gear and buying a capable compact, selling the om-d and keeping the gx1 and 14mm/20mm primes, putting it all in the cupboard until i feel better about it, or just getting rid of it all and having another complete break for a while.

I don't really go out on trips to take photos, I don't really pixel peep and I do have just as much fun snapping with my iPhone. Having an interchangeable camera 'system' almost becomes a chore for me - despite being extremely fortunate to afford decent kit.

Season greetings to my fellow m43'ers anyway :)

Cheers Les. ;)

Alan, we all go through stages like that. When I get to that stage I find getting out with a few others for a sunrise shoot and a good full english breakfast after, along with a skylark really puts the sparkle back.

Do this, I'm sure you WILL feel better about it after Christmas, or maybe even when Spring starts ....

Meanwhile, have a great Xmas break, and don't worry about it.

I agree about putting your kit in a cupboard. If in a few weeks, or when the weather improves, you don't feel like dusting it off and going out to take photos, then perhaps it's time to decide if you really want to own the gear. Have an angst-free festive season.

Great shots Alby, love the swan

Sorry guys, I don't work like that - wish I did :cuckoo:

OM-D now for sale in the classifieds.

It's been fun in here while it lasted - this and the Panny thread are excellent examples of how to do it - thanks to you all.

Good luck with whatever you decide to get in the future ;)

Thanks Julian - probably an RX100 at this stage.

Just use both I do although like yourself the omd hasn't been out much recently but I'm keeping it but reducing my lenses to the 12-50 40-150 and panny 25 1.4.

Hmmm - I guess I may keep the GX1 with the 14, 20 and 7.5 lenses. Honestly though - I think I need a break from 'system' cameras - the whole lenses, changing lenses, never having the right lens on the camera or with you is the frustration.

Possible solutions to that - get the 14-150, or just keep one lens (the 20mm) on your preferred body and pack the other lenses away for a while.

It's not uncommon to feel 'down' at this time of year (Seasonally Affected Disorder, lack of daylight, crummy weather). I'm sure you'll better in the Spring :)
