Anyone Mooning last night? :D

Here's one from me, with the E-M5 and Panny 100-300 @275mm f/8

That's a stunningly clear shot.

Did you have to do much PP on it, or run it thru Registax?

V.Nice.

Thanks for the comments.
This was the sharpest out of a bunch I took. It's RAW processed using Capture One 7, Slight exposure adjustment, a couple of clarity tweaks and re-sized for the web with Helicon Filter.

Ha ha

How did you get it as white as that? Do I need to PP it to get mine white as all mine turn out the same colour.

That's pretty much how my RAW looks but with a little less contrast. I shot it using auto WB.
You may want to tweak your WB in your PP program to give you the desired output.

Is this what you are trying to achieve?

All I did was to set the white balance to "AUTO" and that's the result, there is some fringing around the moon which I removed using the HSL sliders. Iused Lightroom v3.6 but 4.2 is the same principal.

I will remove the image if you wish me to.

OK, I joined the club :D

I got a used OM-D E-M5 to go with my E-PL3. Came this morning, so had to go outside and take a couple of shots. These are of no particular artistic merit, just me testing the new toy.

Alan will probably recognise these

My local hostelry in all its shabby, flakey painted glory (but the ales and food are not bad). Taken this morning in very harsh sunlight (makes a change!!). Focus point on the Sign in the road and f/16 to still get the pub in focus.

A Golden Jubilee monument that is also showing its age. Quite a large crop on this one, but the detail still holds up well.

and this time a fairly grainy BW treatment

Now, have to play with all the settings & options, and then find something decent to photograph !!

Nice to have a new toy Les, these look like your new toy is operating perfectly.

No problem leave it as like to show people so all you did set white balance to auto in LR will have to see where that is when I am in front of the iMac

But thanks that ace

Thanks Andrew:thumbs:

First, I get the colour version to where I want it to be in LR, then I push that edited version into Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 (THE best B&W software/plugin IMHO), find a treatment that works initially, then further tweak it until I like it, back into LR for some further tweaking and maybe some NR if it needs it.

Correct it the very same software I've got. I've got the nik complete actually and use some of it quite regular such as colour effect for glamour glow on portraits.

Had another attempt taking a photo of the moon tonight they are heavy crop thou could do with a nice long lens one day

Congrats on the new toy Les.

I drive past these every day to and from work.

The mono conversions really do suit both subjects

Macro 60mm here I am come :)

Yes, that's all I do Andrew. I tend to start off with a fairly flat neutral JPEG which is much easier to process into something more akin to what I saw at the time. The light was so rich and warm this afternoon, it was lovely.

Thanks guys - the OMD with the 40-150 is a cracking combination for just about anything. I actually turn the sharpening down in-camera in order to produce a cleaner file, and I do no other sharpening other than a tiny amount at final output.

I've never even considered the Oly 40-150 before, seems cheap too, thanks

Yes it cheap but a damn fine lens. To be honest I found it we sharp as the canon 70-200 2.8 L I had and that shocking but the L might of been a bit faster as expected

I guess your still shooting jpeg then? What is your final setting for everything via jpeg please

noise filter
Noise reduction
Sharpness
Colour mode ie muted which I believe your using
Etc

As I think I might go back t shooting jpeg :)

Yes, I got mine as part of the double zoom kit with my E-PL3, and after using it for the Olympics, great for zooming right across the track, I've hardly used it.

But recent comments on 2 other forums have been praising it highly. Most people seem to say it is very sharp between 60-110mm for a lens of this type.

Must find some time to tear the P20 off my OM-D, and retry the 40-150, but when I do that the O45 seems to find it's way on there LOL !! These 2 primes are so, so, good, they're stopping me using anything else.

I love those 2 primes - I have tried the 40-150 once and then put it in my bag

I suppose it depends what your taking pictures off :) most ive seen of yours are landscape so not surprise the 20mm be the one :) Ive though about getting the 14mm which focus quicker do you know

Just wondered if you guys here had seen this northern lights thread at DPR...

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3345001

It's one in the eye for those who say that this subject can't be captured without a Canon 1D body of some description and a Zeiss lens.

I'd love to see and shoot this one day, there's a cruise I keep looking at :D

I have the 14mm too - this is even smaller than the 20mm and focuses faster/quiter. Still reasonably fast at f2.5.

My perfect lens line up is S7.5, P14, P20 & O45

For some reason my 7-14mm isn't selling on here - so will be off to ebay with it very soon. Once it is sold I reckon I will invest in the P12-35 f2.8

That's interesting Alan.

You've got that range covered with your primes; is it just for convenience, a single walkabout lens?
