I've just inherited an Olympus E-500 DSLR and have been trying it out over the past couple of days. Obviously with the age of the camera I've not been expecting much. There does however seem to be a small cult following of these bodies because of the Kodak developed CCD so it may be a future eBay listing :) I've managed to find a way to check the shutter count and was surprised to find a count of less than 300 on a camera which is close to twenty years old.

I thought it may be worth updating the firmware to make it the best it can be but I don't have the USB lead for the camera. These can be picked up for around £4 so that's easily solved but I'm not sure if the firmware files are available and if they could be applied using a Windows 11 PC. Does anyone know or have experience doing this?

I've found a few pages describing the firmware and a few telling me how to update it but can't find a download for it.
To be honest I don't think there is really anything worthwhile updating but thought I'd try anyway.

It looks like you need to use OM Workspace, same as for the current cameras.

Seems to be the case......they have done a major website update, as I had a bookmark to the 'familiar' downloads page but it redirected me to a slicker and IMO less user friendly page!
