I've just inherited an Olympus E-500 DSLR and have been trying it out over the past couple of days. Obviously with the age of the camera I've not been expecting much. There does however seem to be a small cult following of these bodies because of the Kodak developed CCD so it may be a future eBay listing
I've managed to find a way to check the shutter count and was surprised to find a count of less than 300 on a camera which is close to twenty years old.
I thought it may be worth updating the firmware to make it the best it can be but I don't have the USB lead for the camera. These can be picked up for around £4 so that's easily solved but I'm not sure if the firmware files are available and if they could be applied using a Windows 11 PC. Does anyone know or have experience doing this?
