Hi guys

we use the Olympus E-PL1 at work to take pictures of items etc for our webshop. We sometimes take close up's of several items when we want to show the detail.

Previously i've worked with a ring flash and a macro lens and it really gave us the effect we wanted.

What kind of ring flash would be suitable on this camera?? obviously i would like to keep using this as it serves our purpose generally and cost wise too.

any advice would be appriciated.

There are some options but these are either very expensive or may not provide the performance required.
Olympus make a very expensive ring flash (circa £699) and an adapter (circa £50) to fit this ring flash to the 60mm macro lens. This would provide TTL exposures but at huge cost.
Orbis make a device which channels the output from a speedlight to a ring, I have no experience of them but they should give good illumination which again would provide TTL exposures.

There are much cheaper clones on Ebay, it would be necessary to check if an Olympus compatible flash will fit the aperture. An example is at -

Lastly, there are a number of LED Ringlights which are not very powerful but might suffice, these do not actually flash and might require a tripod because exposure times will be longer. Readily available on Ebay such as

Hi Guys thanks for the replies.

I think the cheapest option would be something like the Orbis which i have one of at home for my canon and a flash ontop.

is there a special fitting or what fitting would i search for, for the mount ?
