Ok so i returned the leica 15mm tp MPB lovely lens but it was missing some accessories which made it not a great used bargain but on the back of that I have seen some great deals on an
olympus 12-40 F2.8 Pro, wondering does anyone out there use it on an Em5 Mk2 body?

How does the size handle?
The reviews seem to say it is very very good indeed.

Nothing wrong with the EM5 mk2 and 12-40, however I prefer it with the Olympus ECG 3 grip to balance it.

I used it most of the time on my Pen-F, which is a pretty small and compact body, and I found it to be fully compatible in balance and handling terms, and a wonderful lens to boot . Go for it!:)

I suppose decisions on handling are a personal thing but personally I don't have an issue with using larger lenses on smaller bodies and I've never really understood those who talk about balance issues. When I'm using a camera my right hand holds the camera with my thumb near the top wheel and my finger over the shutter button. My left hand is under the lens with my finger and thumb on the focus/zoom ring. Any balance is therefore achieved with my left hand under the lens and so far I've never used a larger lens which I thought caused the dreaded balance issues some talk about.

I bought the two as a kit to use when I couldn't be bothered carrying the DSLR. My first thought was that it was front heavy but I got used to it after not even half a days shooting. Cracking lens imho.

Weird, I posted in here yesterday, must have forgotten to click submit :D

Anyway, I say just go for it, one of the best M43 lenses available for the money. I use it on a G80 and it's nicely balanced, I can imagine it being fine on the old em5 I had for a bit. I used heavier old lenses on that without any issue. It's not a heavy lens for a 2.8 zoom, it feels more solid than heavy and you're going to be cupping the lens with your left hand when shooting anyway. It's about as sharp as you'll ever need and the close focusing capabilities are excellent, you can get down to 1:3 magnification, achieving 'bokeh' is a cinch with a lens like this and the manual focus mechanical clutch is also a really nice feature. The only reason to not get this lens is if you just straight up prefer to use primes.

Im looking at it very closely, i decided when i got the leica 15mm despite it missing the accessories which just was frustrating and has soured my experience with MPB, i appreciate its not there problem if people dont trade them on.
The issues I had is they dont factor them in as part of the value of the package and I think the accessories are important.

anyhooo it just handled the same as my olympus 17mm so ........

I use the 12-40 on my EM5ii as my travel system, it’s fine for me, not as balanced as on the EM1 or EM1ii but it doesn’t really bother me.

Still hunting around for a deal on this lens [emoji3]

Thats how I always hold a camera

[QUOTE That grip fits the E-M10ii[/QUOTE] I meant the ECG-2

Maybe I prefer to hold the camera firmly in my right hand instead of my finger tips, so as you've said its personal preference. That's why you and others don't understand

Not sure if it helps but I ave the Panasonic 12-35 Lumix X; I rate that VERY highly - extremely compact but really really well built and very happy with the performance. Worth a look

I have ordered the oly 12-40 from HDEW

I had the 12-40mm on my EM5-II and found absolutely fine. OK so I think the EM1 with 12-40mm feels better, but it’s still fine on the EM5-II (y)

As dcash29 says the ECG-2 makes all the difference to the feel of the E-M5 MkII with the 12-40.
That's how I had mine configured. V.nice combo.
