I've been lucky to catch some of our Olympic medals this week and I've also been reading the photo blogs from newsweek and times online. The amount of preparation never mind skill that goes into taking these wonderful images is on a scale that most of us can only imagine. And that's before we look at the kit. One of the newsweek guys was shooting the weightlifting. He had three cameras, one with a 400mm lens on, one with a 70-200mm and a third in the ceiling! He had to apply to mount the remote ceiling one 24 hours in advance and it meant only getting 4 hours sleep. All three cameras were triggered by just one shutter, the one he was holding. The other two were fired remotely at the same time. Absolutely mind blowing stuff!

And as I'm inspired by some of the images coming back I'm also blooming frustrated. I can't seem to get my hands on my camera right now. Between work, which has caused me to reschedule most of next week, including the shoot I had planned on Friday (now I can't get the time off grrr) I also have a shoot planned at my local boxing club. Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights are the best. Can I get there? No. Not home in time, too much to do when I do get home. It's taking me weeks to get just a couple of hours.

I was driving earlier today and as I stopped at some traffic lights, just looking round I could see two really good shots. I see them all the time. But I just can't seem to get the camera in hand right now.

I'd like to think in a week or two things will get slightly less busy but I'm kidding myself. I have 12 guests coming tomorrow for the weekend, I have a trip to Scotland for a family occasion (not a happy one I'm afraid) and a trip to Jersey to photograph a friends wedding. Add to that a work schedule that means I'm all over the place for the next three weeks and I just don't see it getting any better.

Can I just stop the world please, just a little bit so I can chill out and take some pics?

....then there's the weather, the DIY, the dogs, my car...... too many irons, not enough fires. :bang:

Deep breath...in, out, in, out.
