One of my colleagues brought her fathers old yashica minister in for me to have a look at. The shutter doesn't fire, it winds on as it should, there is a very slight click when the shutter release is pressed, which I think is just the reset for the film advance, but the shutter itself doesn't fire. Also, the focusing ring moves freely, the lens moves, but the image from the rangefinder in the viewfinder doesn't move. Apart from that its in excellent condition

Is there anywhere you can get these repaired, and is it a costly job?

Thanks

Shaun

Miles will give you a preliminary assessment then if you send it to him he'll check it and decide whether it's likely repairable; if no he'll return it (you pay return postage, I think). Expect it to take some weeks.

In purely monetary terms it’s probably not worth repairing but since it was her fathers and if she s going to use it then a trip to Miles is worth it to keep it going for a few more years.
