I know what's considered 'old' to one person won't be for another, but I was surprised to read during the reports of the death of Farah Fawcett that Charlie's Angels was broadcast as long ago as 1976. How about that?

Ooer - that was a year before I was born! I still remember watching the re-runs years later, along with MacGyver, A-Team, Airwolf and Tour of Duty - quality! Although I watch them now and think  so cheesy! :D

I shouldn't really have watched any of my childhood shows as an adult as it's tainted them.
I can now see right through the cheesy storylines, the hammy acting and the dodgy scripts.

Still all fun though :D

I'm also thinking about things like Starsky and Hutch. I'm sure if I watched it now it would a very different experience compared to the first time round. And those shows were so popular for a while too. Seems almost everyone watched them.

1976, been married for a year and every girl looked like one of the Angels.

1976 erm.... i was 10 years off being born. :D :p

1976...

I was the twinkle in my dads child like eye

1976, I was 8yrs old and still remember we used play at being charlies angels in the playground at school, roping in some poor unwilling sop of a lad to be Charlie

It was Starsky and Hutch for the boys, although that would be '77 on I think

1978 that were only yesterday, now when I were a lad we had to walk to school avoiding t dinosaurs it were so long ago

Anyhow Farrah was tasty but go back much further to The Avengers and Diane Rigg in the bondage suit

Blake's 7 but if I where to watch it now I would probably double over with laughter.

It's a memory thing, I went around Ingleton Falls in Yorkshire the other day ,and do you know what .........last time I did it 12 years ago it was much more photogenic.................onest!!!:p

Also, they have made the paths much steeper.:suspect::nono:

Diane Rigg were ok but man Linda Thorsen :love:

Yeah, just "ok" :cuckoo:

The first Starsky and Hutches were pretty good (at the time) - plenty of gratuitous violence etc - but then they cleaned it up and sanitised it. Perhaps this was the same with The Sweeney.

The Muppet Show when it first started in the 70s was also good in its early incarnation. But then it became all about the special guest and went down the toilet.

In '76, I turned 13. No wonder FF makes my eyesight a bit wonky!!!

Unfortunately I can remember when TV was only in black and white and Sunday Night at the London Palladium was about as good as it got.

Blakes 7 was brilliant when it came out, but if you watch it now it's laughable - Jenna was pretty hot at the time (but I preferred Callie)

I thought that "Muffin the mule" was a sexual offence.

Some not bad comedians in B&W days - Arthur Haynes.

Western - Wagon Train
Rawhide - Clint Eastwood in B&W

Yep I am sure they would never get away with that these days
Oh and old cowboys
How could I forget "Bonanza" :D

We lived in flats growing up, and only one family in the block had a TV with BBC2. The entire block used to congregate in their sitting room on a Monday evening to watch "The High Chapparal" - quality stuff.

And the little white dot in the centre of the scree after the TV was switched off.

My grandparents were the first in our family to get a colour TV - around 1975 I think. We all used to go to their house on Wednesday evenings to watch It's A Knockout.

I also remember our first TV which was VHF for BBC1 and ITV and for BBC2 you had to take the aerial out of the VHF socket and plug it into the UHF socket and switch it over to UHF.

Steve.

Yes, and old B&W TV's did not stay tuned in. Pic would change to a series of "saw tooth" lines and you had to go to the set to tune the channel in.

Then the damned pic would rapidly roll over so you had to tinker with the Line Hold control to steady it.

Must be loads of folk on this forum who know nothing of this.

Yep I bet your right
I found the "fine tuner" useful :D
( how many of us repeatedly hit the top of the set in an effort
to make "it" stand still?)
You young'uns can laugh but it actually worked :D

I can just remember Torchy. I'm also one of the few people around who can say they saw the first Doctor Who, around 1963 I think. No video recorders or repeats then.

Four Feather Falls anyone? I got a dvd set a couple of years ago. And Space Patrol too. Stirring stuff.
