Hi to all i found a stash of old sterling whilst cleaning out my fathers wardrobe
after he died
3,000 roughly
the notes date back to the 50s 60s 70s etc anyone know the best way to exchange these
i will be in london next week if that helps

It's definitely worth getting a valuation from a coin/note dealer, but it will be the minutia of detail and condition that make a difference.

A very quick search using Google finds post-1957 £5 notes retailing* at £20-£350 depending on the issue number and condition.


*expect the value you get to be half-retail at best..
 
i was on to a company called baldwin coins in the uk they asked i send some photos and they will appraise them there all mint condition
 
been mentioned above...many are probably worth more than face value to collectors... just look at a random few and search on a well known auction site.....not saying put them all up there.... a dealer will give you a fraction of the value, esp if you have no idea of the worth....

At the very least face value is guaranteed by the old lady of threadneedle street.
