I have some old photos of family from around 1940s, they were taken in black and white but seemed to have been painted in some way to add some colour. How was this done?
You answered your own question they are hand tinted with either inks or paint whilst the emulsion is still wet from developing, or some are dry tinted also some are lithe prints toned with selenium and other chemical solutions, with out seeing its hard to say which technique has been applied
Hi Dave, thanks for that. They were bu no means pro photographers, i doubt they done their own developing, so would it be something an amateur could do? I can attach a photo if it helps, although i dont know how to attach, only been on here an hour
