Hi

Everyone I used to do lot of photography many years ago but work got in the way just got myself a second hand Nikon D40 to have a go at digitel, already thinking of upgrading:bonk: but I will wait and learn before spending a lot more money.

Regards

Ted

Welcome to TP Ted from another oldie.......:D

Good analysis of the situation Ted,think before buying.

Get used to the D40 and it's limitations (If any) before you splurge as I did.

The biggest advance I think I appreciate from the D80 I had is the dust reduction facility on the D300 where the sensor or cover thingy vibrates on startup and shutdown to dislodge any loose dust,or dustbunnies as people call them.
Whatever camera you move up to make sure it has this facility mate.

Welcome again Ted,you should enjoy it here.;)

1949...pah ...try 1941......:D

i started with a D40 too..:D...actually it still had a lot of potential but I was seduced and upgraded to a D5000

and learnt...as they will keep telling you here ....''it's the glass what counts''

so before you upgrade [ if indeed you do] consider which lens you wish to have AND THEN buy the camera to suit

I've been agonizing for months - trying to talk myself out of a D300 - old hat but a marvelous camera

probably stick with the D5000.........:D

:welcome:

Thanks for the welcome

I will think long and hard before I upgrade (or the wife will) :D so I better get out there and click away.....and get to grips with the camara:)

you dont need it for the extra battery capacity - although useful

but i found a battery grip to be more comfortable on the smaller D40

get a copy one off eBay
