Yes
How can I get these to work on my Sony Alpha A390, what adaptor do I need, has anybody used one before?

the manual lenses are cheap and would be nice to use for some portrait work or for macro work.

You'll find some on the bay (MD/MC to Sony Alpha) if your looking at the Rokkor Lens then google conversions or conversion kits.

You would be better off looking into M42 screw mount lenses to be honest. Any old Minolta MD/MC lenses will need a glass element in the adapter to retain infinity focusing (well focusing beyond a few feet) and will lower image quality and act as a mild teleconverter.

Might be being a little thick, but aren't the mounts the same for minolta and sony? Hence no filters just plug them in....?

Or are you going even older than the old minolta's?

Had a 5d at one point and bought (best buy ever!) 24mm f2.8 from ebay for 30ukp.

Only worked as manual focus, although aperture seemed to be camera controlled.

Might be worth trying on your camera at a second hand store before buying?

No, that's Minolta AF lenses only. The manual focus lenses have a Minolta MD mount which is physically different and requires a different register difference (between the lens and the sensor). Minolta MD lenses can only be used on mainstream micro 4/3 cameras, Sony Nex and Samsung NX cameras without optical adapters to get them to infinity.

Maybe a portrait lens or something like that.

Got a Helios 135mm 2.8 - 52mm filter, M42 thread, integral metal lens hood.
Iris good, no dust I can see, lens case, filter (somewhere!) Just need your adapter for camera. Bought it for my 40d, but never used it!
Also got a Greens Federal (re-branded) 200mm prime with 2x convertor.
If you are interested, I will put it/them in a for sale thread and wait for you to answer.
