Just a quick post to say hi.
I'm just starting out as a pro, but have been involved in pro photography on and off for nearly fifteen years. I studied at Derby under John Blakemore et al in the mid 90s and assisted on ad shoots and the like for quite a while after I left, before accidentally* finding myself in the world of graphic/web design and staying there until last year.
Halting my photographic career is probably my largest regret. Especially when I discovered what a couple of my classmates had got up to in the intervening years.

So now I am trying to catch up on a lost decade of photographic experience. I would heartily welcome any serious, honest and open advice from any working pros around here.

*I worked for a disillusioned and fairly cynical ad photographer, who out and out told me he would make sure I learned nothing from him as he didn't want the competition. Obviously I did learn a lot, but in my twenties at the time, it was more palatable to fall into a postgrad in multimedia design, which is what I did.
