Folks hello, sorry my first post is a bit negative BUT.

I'm trying to find out if there is anyone who can repair [and I mean REPAIR :(] old canon A-1 bodies.

To cut a long story short, I have an "almost" unused [like having 10-15 rolls through it.] A-1 that suffered severe damage when it was dropped some 25 odd years ago.

Now yes, the lens mount was distorted, so it was put away, but that's it. Camera still functions in all modes and I'm loathe to scrap it.

However going from a copy of the original service manual, it looks quite a job to replace the part, not a diy one, [and I'm an instrument fitter from my time in the RAF] so are there/is there any specialists who repair these old Canon classics?

Any takers?

Thanks for reading

Mo.

My usual recommendation for anything repair-related is Miles Whitehead but as you're a fair distance from Kent, it might be worth contacting Ffordes and finding out who they'd recommend.

If you don't mind sending it away, contact Miles and see what he says. I appreciate that the website is a bit old-school but look at it this way, he's so good that it doesn't really matter what his website looks like ;)

Thanks guys, there are a couple of shops in the central belt but you can't beat word of mouth.

cheers

Mo.
