Very excited. Before I got into photography, I went to Africa with a basic point and shoot in 2000 and thought I'd lost most of the pictures over various house moves.

I found a carrier bag of aps film in the loft the other day, together with the odd pic

Genuinely excited to see what's on them and to get them onto the computer!

Fun find :) Fingers crossed you have a better result than I did, nowt but rubbish on the one I found.

That's great, Shaheed. Given the basic nature of many P&S APS cameras (and conditions in lofts not being the best for exposed film), it's probably best not to get your hopes up too high, but there's at least a chance there's something there that will stir your memories of that trip.

It was in a carrier bag and they're kept in the cases so I'm (probably unrealistically) hopeful that they'll have survived and the crap pics will be due to my crap skills!!

Are they undeveloped, or already processed and you're just getting new prints from the negs?

My dad gave me an APS camera and a couple of rolls of film earlier this year. The indicators on the containers showed both rolls as unexposed, so I took a load of snaps on a trip to Whitby. When I had the roll processed I was somewhat surprised to find every shot double-exposed on pictures of my mum and dad on a trip to Niagra Falls sometime in the late 90s! Not done anything with the second roll yet.

They're already developed and processed. I'm getting them scanned into a cd!

Oh that should be fine then. Photo Express have done some good scanning jobs for me in the past. Definitely increase your optimism level...:)

I'm not that optimistic. This was 10 years before I knew anything about photography and my pics were generally (even more than now) awful!

But I thought I'd lost all these pics, so I'm glad to have found them!

For something like that, it's all about the memories.

It is indeed!

I've walked that very path. Taking pics was a challenge with the amount of spray covering the camera, though in the end it was cold sogginess (our hands went numb in the chilly spray) that stopped us taking in & enjoying the scenery.

In truth, I'd forgotten about it until I found the pic.

The films should cover some of the trip between South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Malawi.

Really excited to see what's in them!

Very excited - they've received the film and will scan them and Dropbox them tomorrow morning!! I suspect they'll be terrible (I can't tell you how bad I was) but it should bring back some happy memories. If any are half presentable, I'll share them on here!

Those are actually ok and the second one has a real tilt shift thing going on, excellent.

Hey you've been much too modest, Shaheed, these have turned out pretty nicely. A few wild colours and some edge softness, unsurprisingly, but the small film seems to have held up very well, at least at web size. I really like the first, a lot, and the 4th and 6th I like too. I thought about suggesting cropping the LHS of the 4th, but the proximity to the vehicle makes it. These are definitely better than memory reminders, IMHO. Not a surprise, really!

Yep - I think I'm going to print off the first one - we have a large frame in the loo which holds multiple small prints so these should hold up ok!

The lion was just suddenly behind the truck, so I wanted to keep it in to give it context!

There were a few duffers but it was nice to see the memory invoking pics!

if my keepers were as good as your "duffers" id be a happy man!:(:D

Loving the colours in that shot. Is the graininess an artifact of the film, or the result of the water spray in the air? It looks excellent.

I suspect a little of column A and a little of column B!

I was saying to my better half that we need more non-portrait ice to put up on the wall.....then I found the old film!

Is that bloke really being hugged by a stone column????:thinking::D
