Ok then what bit me!!!!!!!!!

I come out like that with a horsefly and mosquito

yeah, we darent open our window at night or they come into the bedroom

Another vote for Horsefly.... they're silent in flight so you don't hear them coming. It's only the females that suck blood as well.:exit:

the good news is the itch comes later :D

I got stung on the neck by a sodding wasp last sat if that helps.........

Wasp stings & Mossie bites I can handle
Friggin' horseflys.......................
in and out like greased lightning [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] things!
the swelling should abate after
about a week

6" by 4"!!!

The wife had a go at you with a hot iron.

Dab some Teatree oil on it :) It's the best solution we have found for Chris who gets bitten almost daily by something or other. Before we started using TTO his bites would go septic quite regularly and quickly.

Then there is prevention, which I'm sure we all know is better than the cure. Try Avon Skin So Soft oil spray, them Scottish folk swear by its insect repelling abilities ;)

Thanks for that Jo ,I have scars because of insect bites and they take weeks to heal so will give both items a try

Blandford fly? That apparently lives in an arc from east anglia/oxford/dorset

6" x 4"? Are you sure it's a bite? Sounds more like the start of Ebola or something....

Only kidding. The horsefly (or clegg up here) is a nasty little insect. They pass on nasty germs too.
These horrid little things actually tear flesh rather than piercing it.
