OK, how are you framing your Photobox Bank Holiday posters then...?

Hi All

I see that several users here have taken advantage of the excellent Photobox Bank Holiday offer of 30" x 20" poster prints for just £5 (this offer ends today at midnight, so hurry up if you want one, there's just enough time) - but what are you good folk doing with them?

How are you hanging or framing them? Are you purchasing a large 30"x20" frame for your prints, using coloured frame card as a backing...? what are you doing...?

I have no idea if/what/how I am going to hang mine, but would love some ideas as to what you are doing.

Good question MusicMan - I am expecting several to pop through my letter box, and was wondering how to frame mine too..
 
Im getting mine framed and glassed at the local artshop. Ive got my eye on a big, thick, dark driftwood looking frame. Probably going to get a black mount to go in it as well. The whole lot is probably going to cost a fair bit, but hopefully the final result will be worth it. :)
 
IKEA, altough I did have to trim tham slightly. I would have like to put some in better frames but they cost a fortune ;(
 
I think Wilko's do a cheap plastic and chip board frame with no outer frame if that makes sense? that will do me. I think I need to improve my work a lot more to splash out big money of grand frames like MK :lol: If I was as good as you MK I wouldn't hesitate though.
 
Well have to say they were very good as I inadvertantly ordered one in gloss when I meant matt only becuase I had so much trouble getting their site to accept the offer code it must have defaulted back to gloss, when I pointed this out to them they sent me another one free in matt. Good customer service.
 
I paid £60 for the last frame and mount I had done at 30" x 20", I had the shot dry mounted then framed in ash painted black with the grain cut along the edges of the frames and a gold inset in the frame. Mounted with a 1" mount in off-white.

That was from a local framing shop here.

I had loads of problem with the code as well. I wanted matt, but it would only accept the code if I put it down as gloss. In end I just got fed up and chose gloss, but on the receipt it says matt. So fingers crossed I get matt. :shrug:

With the code thing, I had problems as well, then I realised when I highlighted and copied the code, it also copied a space at the start. If the space is there it will not acept the code (and the space is dificult to spot). With the space removed it accepted the code no problems :)

As for framing this is my effort, a la IKEA. (I've already posted this in another photobox thread, so if the mods mind just delete the link).

I just took a few shots of it.

I chose the gold to help accentuate the greens of the grass, I dont have any shots of the whole thing because I was quite restricted for space and the light where its currently hanging is a bit rubbish.

The shot is of devenish island ( Clicky! )

Doesn't look like I will have any problems framing my prints.
Still no luck entering the code so won't have any to frame :(
Have emailed photobox but had no reply.
 
I couldnt get the code to work either and I couldnt see any space infront of it when I copied & pasted it ... but I hit the backspace anyway and sure enough ... it worked!
 
Tried that though.

It's probably my incessant clicking on there that's killing their servers :lol:
 
I had trouble with the code too, until I realised that I had been entering a 5 as an S. prints arrived this morning, and very good they are too.
A few weeks ago, I happened to be passing an art shop that was having a stock clearance, and picked up a couple of A2 size frames for £5 each, so I am sorted.
 
Eventually got it working. Some wierd stuff with caches and the like apparently.
 
No idea how to frame them, but I have just seen them, and they ae very different from the 6x4's that were done at t he same time - better by far, but still some question about quality control..
That said, i am very happy with them - big prints are so different to small ones in the impact (yes, I know that's pretty obvious..) and emotional effect they have !
A bargain, and well done Photobox !
 
I agree Steve, I am very impressed with my second batch - the thing is, I still have no real idea how to frame them.

Has anyone tried any form of backing card...? I am considering looking in an art/craft supplier here in Newport for some thick black or white card and then using photo mount glue/gel to attach the images squarely (proportionally) to this card with about a 1" - 3" border from the edge of the picture to the edge of the card.

Do you think this would work...? It's all I can think of without resorting to expensive and custom framing.
 
Mine arrived this morning and very impressed with them, as usual from photobox :woot:

Framing....oh lordy :thinking: I am probably going to put a couple on my office wall just as straight forward posters and the rest will have to wait in the tube until I can get to my favourite frame shop after my holidays....its 200 miles away up north :cuckoo:
 
Ok, Im probably going to look a dufus here but errr.... what are these posters supposed to actually look like?

Mine have just arrived and theyre printed on thick photo quality paper .... just like all the prints Ive ordered from Photobox previously! :thinking:
Shouldnt they be printed on ... well.... thinner poster paper?
 
Dunno :shrug: - does it state this anywhere on the PB site that they are supplied on thinner paper...? Are posters usually printed on thinner photo paper...?

I quite like mine at the thickness they are supplied to be honest, OK it makes them a little tougher to flatten but is thicker not better?
 
Hmmm! yeah I get where you guys are coming from.
I hadnt paid attention properly when I ordered as time was running out, so I dived in and just bought without realising that their A3 print is in fact the poster.

I had wanted to use these as actual posters ... you know the sort you Blutac up on the back of a door and treat with all the respect of a teenager!

Now I feel as if I have to take care of them & go frame-hunting like everybody else! :|
 
He! he! ... well one is for my model, so I suspect it will definately see a frame.
I may have to think about the other... it was for my nailstudio which gets a bit of people traffic and as the bg is black, I suspect fingermarks would be a plenty... oh hum... looks IKEA here I come :lol:
