So I went to a Wedding on Sunday but I didn't take my camera, thought I would enjoy the day rather than lugging my kit around!

When we were outside doing the photos my missus (the brides sister) aunt asked me to go and take some photos for her. She then pulled a disposable camera out of her pocket!! :eek: Everyone else had compact, bridge or SLR cameras and there I was with this disposable!! :lol:

I was so embarrassed and noticed everyone looking at me, even the photographer and his assistant.

Anyone else been made to use one of these?

Not sure if the tog is on here but the wedding was in Berkhamsted, Herts if you are.

Last time I used a disposable camera must have been 7/8 years ago on a School trip to London when I was 10. There good at some times, like trips as there cheap so any damage isn't too bad but at a wedding...can't help but chuckle.
You can pick up a compact, memory card and case for £50 now a days. But i suppose some like the traditional!

Yep they had those aswell, no doubt for the drunken shots! I hope they don't put those in the album! :lol:

We did that at our wedding, some of the pictures were hilarious! Worring thing when we got them developed was one camera had been used to take pics of nothing but womens butts. One pic taken showed the photographer in a mirrored panel slightly to the side of one of his chosen 'subjects'. It was the 10 year old son of one of my mates! :lol:

Are you sure it wasn't just a Canon :shrug:

Only joking :naughty: must have been quite odd not having a proper camera to use.
 
Puts your skills to the test trying to prove its the tog and not the gear that gets the great pics!
 
I used to keep a disposable in my car, just in case there was an accident. It was useful on a couple of occasions when cars backed into me in car parks.
I'm far less pessimistic now and don't bother. :D
 
I've used them a few times whislt diving. Stopped after we very quickly realised that just becuase the casing says it's safe to 20m doesn't mean it is :bang:

We also had them on the tables at our wedding.
 
I never take my SLR to a wedding, I'm there to enjoy and be part of someone I knows special day and they've paid some other mug to take photo's while I relax with a few nice drinks!

Been a while since I touched a disposable camera, last wedding I went to that had cameras on the table had purchased a load of old 35mm compact from ebay so they should at least have got some better quality shots. Having said that I have piles of photos of my youth taken with disposables some of which are pretty good!
 
When I used to do weddings, I would hand out half-a-dozen disposables and ask people to take a couple of shots and hand them on. Got some interesting stuff sometimes! (And sometimes it could be a bit too interesting for the album - oh er missus!:nuts:)
 
Man, I've not touched a disposable for years! I wouldn't really rush at the opportunity to use one again, I think I'm a bit used to my kit.

I do remember a few years ago though seeing some photographs a friend took using the little camera on an old mobile phone - she was a genius, and the shots she got were incredible. It really is true that it's not what you've got, but how you use it.
 
I think it would be pretty quirky to have a thread in the F&C purely for disposable shots just to show what they can do. I've took photos on disposables and they are actually pretty nifty and even keep one just as a collection piece but they are fun to use.
 
Used disposables at our wedding as well as the vareity of guest cameras and pro photographer. Total waste of money. Pictures were rubbish for the most part. Most people have a camera of some sort these days which will produce something better than a cheap disposable.
 
I did a bit of a project a few years back to see if I could get any usable photos out of disposables. I found that Kodak were the best, followed by Fuji, everything else was cack. Results were average at best, but it was an interesting exercise, and I got one or two good ones.

You need to bear in mind that the focus, shutter speed and aperture are fixed, and on the Fuji ones, the focus is a lot less than infinity so you need to really think about how you use them and what you're using them for.
 
I must admit, I haven't used a disposable since the early 90's.

Still, needs must & all that lol

Have been to several weddings with them on the tables, as others have said some very amusing photos
 
I used one a few years back just to see if it was possible to reload one, the answer is yes but setting the counter back was a nightmare.
 
Hmm.. I've got a wedding to attend this weekend and I think I'll go get a disposable camera and elbow my way right next to the pro tog and say "Hi mate, say 'Cheeeseee' !! " to him !! Just to see what his reaction would be brilliant... LOL
 
I'm certainly looking forward to see how they came out, if they do! If they look crap I'm sure she will blame me as I'm suppose to know what I'm doing having a DSLR and all that! :suspect:

it's about the composition, not the camera.

I think everyone on here should get one and put 36 frames through it, and have to exhibit 20 of those frames. Would get people thinking a lot more about the appearance and what was and wasn't in their shot....
 
Did you not have a mobile? Pretty much all phones have a decent camera on now....
 
We had them on our tables at our wedding almost 10 years ago, thinking it would be a nice reminder of the day. Only problem was one of the young bridesmaids got hold of about 5 of them so we had endless footage of ankles. Others couldn't understand how to operate the tricky flash:cuckoo:. Ended up with about 40 keepers from 12 cameras :eek: Not the end result we were hoping for.
