but the mail uses short words so people don't get confused?
 
Another tactic that confuses the heck out of callers like that...

Them "Hello, can I speak to Mr Nod, please?"

Me "Speaking."

Them "OK, can I ask you a couple of questions?"

Me "Well, that's the second question, so you already have asked a couple."
