Day 149 of 365

149_JU7F3314.jpg

Something a bit different today! Decided to stop off at one of the best views in/of Manchester on my way home today...couldn't be bothered getting the tripod out of the boot though, and Im glad I didn't, because I love this shot :D

I propped up the camera on a grass bank and popped it on a 10 sec timer and posed! The out of focus blobs are insects...thought I'd keep them in for the whole nature thing about it :) (ok, it would appear some is dust on closer inspection..)

Can't believe I'm actually pleased so much by it, then again, I'm posting it from where I am, watching the beautiful sunset....ahh! Check the EXIF for time taken if ya don't believe me ;)

Edit - There seems to be some horrible JPEG effect on the uploaded version, the one on my desktop is fine though?

Edit 2 - Oh, it's coz I'm on my slow mobile internet...it hasn't downloaded the whole thing so is showing a preview thingy

I like it as well, not your usual run of the mill sunset shot.

Thanks, laziness has it's rewards every now and again

149 = Cool shot :clap:
Great angle and colour.

Thanks

Just caught up! Love 149, definately a new approach

Thank you! :)

The angle suits the shot well Phil. Is this from Werneth Low?

Cheers :) Indeed it is, taken at the little triangle of roads just past the Hare and Hounds!

Day 150 of 365

150_JU7F4076.jpg

A wedding shoot today! Why is it, that whenever I do a wedding, I always seem to post the first dance photo? Anyway...this one was quite unique, because the bride and groom had arranged a bit of a mixtape of some of their fav songs, and we had a whole range in style of dances! From karate (with Everybodies Kung Fu Fighting!) through to some random jumping around (with House of Pain - Jump).

Might be a bit too much contrast but hey ho..only a quick edit :p It's been a long day, and tomorrow I'm shooting football, then into the city centre to cover a music video shoot, so a good 15 hours out I'll be out of the house :(

Oh...today, I also had the reverend come up to me telling me that he had lens envy when I was wafting the 70 - 200 2.8 L IS around...it wasn't until the car drive to the reception that I thought of a come back..."Isn't jealousy one of the seven deadly sins?" Oh well, next time!

I like that one, plenty of energy and happy looking people.
Looking at the EXIF data, I wish I got to shoot these things with such good light!

Nice capture, some crazy dancing

Unfortunately the day didn't go perfectly for them...for a start, he signed her bit, and she signed his bit on the register, so that's something to sort out, then the food wasn't fantastic...I think they were glad to chill out a bit :D

You mean todays? There was quite a powerful blast from my flash gun bounced off the ceiling ;)

I must say though, the church was as light inside as it was outside near enough, which was a change! Outside the sun was a pain though, everyone was squinting and it was hard work to get balanced shots :(

Thanks both! :)

Yeah todays,
I looked into the background to eye up the exposure, you can see where the flash is falling off on the ceiling.

I had to shoot my Nephews christening, they booked some place that was 16th century with the tiny windows and you stepped down below ground level to get in. That was dark

Ah yes, point taken! :)

The lighting round the room edge was quite strong, made for quite a nice background, blurred out in the bokeh!

I shot a wedding at Leez Priory in Essex...an old Tudor mansion, the rooms were quite dark there...then I found out where the disco was! In the basement...I don't remember any windows at all  Must have used a set of batteries in my flash in about 10 minutes

Day 151 of 365

154_JU7F4978.jpg

Today, I shot the lovely ladies at the Positive Arts group in Stockport....you may remember that I covered the opening of their exhibition a few months ago! This time, they had received a Lottery grant for a lovely amount :)

Bloody hell Phil. What a lovely office you have. BUT STOP YOUR COMPLAINING ABOUT IT JEEZ :p

Out and about playing computer games :D

Day 155 of 365

155_JU7F5118.jpg

Are you pointing that camera at me again?! I went to pick up Amy from university at Bangor, and we decided to pop over to South Stack RSPB on Holyhead for the sunset...I went climbing down the cliffs and taking photos James Bond style :p There is another thread over in Birds for some more photos...

Day 156 of 365

I really like day 155, compositionally it is great, colour wise it as also great, but the only thing i find a little off putting is the large amount of blur from the foreground foliage? I think its mainly the blob on top of the triangle og blue that comes down from the top left third going down to the bottom right third if thats makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

I totally agree with you, it is a tad distracting. It's not even the same colour as the rest to help blend it in :( It was however just a quick snap shot, not one I purposely posed and set up (honestly!)

Thanks again!

:plusone: for 155 :) Amy looks really happy too :)

God I'm rubbish! Found out about a barn owl so went chasing it, no update today  A barn owl in Manchester is quite a rare thing, believed to be only about 10 within 20 miles of the city centre! I saw it too :D

Going to start pushing the good folks I do the sports work with, to look into doing sportraiture (portraits of sports people if you didn't cotton on!) and some more portrait work of my own once I build up my portfolio a bit better!

Soft box at the top of the stairs...I like fiddling with new toys :D

Day 159 of 365

Back in the real world...and today I went along to an Anti BNP rally at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, captured this black and white couple having a bit of an 'up yours Nick Griffin' smooch :)

Day 160 of 365

160_JU7F7244.jpg

Barn owl hunting....in Manchester! :D It was Amy's first wild owl sighting, which was accompanied (much to her annoyance) by a running commentary from me! I found out I talk a lot when taking photographs... I don't think that grass was long enough for use as camo, but sure enough, the barn owl turned up on time (well, they're never early). The photos came out rubbish though as the sun had disappeared, it was 9.15pm, and we had pitched up in the wrong spot! I will return....

That's what I wondered, I should have used a smiley
I can't do BB code and smileys all in one post, too thick see.

Don't worry, Jordie must still be figuring it out.....now then, where has he gotten to?
