Oh God now what!?!

Hopefully not Nigeria

Danny, you are the new koolpc/gigabyte etc of the TP forum. :D

Danny's 50D and associated kit has been on sale on AVForums for an hour now, so the keen detective amongst you can probably guess the outcome ;) :D

Chris

It was actually listed on the 26th too, but got pulled by the mods.
I guess he's been plotting for a while.

It's not that a good an offer, you've just convinced yourself it is. B grade means it's going to marked and possibly scratched. If you don't WANT to sell the 50d then dont. You'll be able to get a 7d for less than that in a few months after you've actually taken some photos with the gear you've got.

:agree:

But :agree:

I can relate to all the pondering but now you can get on with some photography

I'm waiting for the 'what lens' upgrade for my 7D thread though :bonk:

Just as an example a friend of mine did all of these with a 50D and a 50mm 1.4 (and some OCF) http://fiftyoffifty.co.uk/ I really don't think you need to change one bit just get shooting! ;)

Oh wow, some of those are awesome...

Oh and for the record Danny, been there got the tee shirt... Don't do it would be my advice, I went from a D70 Nikon to a D300s with poor glass which I decided I didn't like to a Panasonic GF1 which was going to solve all my issues. I now have a Canon 40d and a 50mm 1.8 and looking to buy a zoom for it. Full circle for me!

Keep the 50d, buy some glass go take photos :)

Good luck!

guys .. i spent all night deliberating on this :(

Okay B grade isnt worth it for £810 but i can get a new one from DR for £899?

That said though again .. i want to sell my *other stuff*whatever happens as i want the variation in a lens not just that static fixed focal length

perhaps my 50D is best kept and perhaps i should keep the 1.4 until i can afford to buy a 24/70 2.8 outright =|

My guess is that if you get the 24-70 it'll be too heavy and you'll start debating on which tripod to get..

Seriously, if you can't take pictures with what you've got already; no amount of new tech will help you. Maybe you should instead look for the love of photography before stocking up on stuff?

i can already take pictures? :S

and i have a perfectly good giotta tripod im very pleased with

Where did you see the B grade ones?

ebay :)

IF i keep my 50D

I need to buy something to trigger wireless ETTL (not 602's as i want ett) AND i need an additional lens which has the versatility.

This means a 580 EXII @ £350 and a sigma or tamron at around £250

Sooooo £600

Sad times

Then go take some damn pictures! :)

In terms of lens versatility; in the relative short range of 24-70, a 50mm with some good use of your legs should work pretty well.

Rather than the 24-70, you may want to take a good look at the 17-55 f2.8 IS. It's a very good focal range for a crop sensor with great optics. If you do go for a 7D later on it won't let you down.

i dont know why some of you slate me for being indecisive .. its not like im being nasty or hurting anyone just cant make my mind up ..

you will however be glad to know ive just unboxed the 50D and put my lens back on the front

Go and buy yourself a second hand Tamron 18-250 not the 18-270 it's more expensive.

You get one for peanuts and it's a fantastic lens.

I had one for over 4 years and took thousands of pictures with it, some good some bad.

Why do you need a fancy flash, just find photo opertunities that don't need a flash.

You'll waste your life trying to decide, get out and get some photo's taken. Stop worrying about your kit.

I went and did the umm ahh thing and ended up with a 5d2, funny how I'm back using a 40D now.

Still takes pictures !

Shame I'm still a crap photographer LOL :D

What's the fascination with buying new? I know you said you're banned from the market on here, but there are other sources. FFordes, MPB, Mifsuds etc.

didnt know there was other sources

do you have links?

Patience, MPB get new stuff in daily, and FFordes have a 2-3 day turn around.

Im confused, what is it you're looking for!?

Personally I wouldn't get a 7D with what you have. I'd consider it if you had the older 30D as I do, but I wouldn't want to sell my lenses to get one. Your kit is more than decent enough, so I'd say that if you're desperate to get a better camera then save for it and get the most out of what you have now. I'd also make sure you've got decent lenses first, before upgrading. Once you've got the glass and you find the camera limiting, then upgrade.

why were you banned from the for sale section here?

for agreeing to buy an item for £25 then when i was pointed out thats more than the value of a brand new one i said no .. i got in trouble and banned
