I found out this morning that my application for entry to the 2009 Flora Marathon has been accepted

Oh b****r!

Well I always said I wanted to do one, now I've got the chance!

Wish me luck!

:)

Nice one John :)

You going to be playing frisbee along the way? :p

TP meet at the marathon perhaps? :naughty:

Seriously, good luck, you have my respect already, I'm far too unfit to even think about it!

If you want to catch me in my death throes station yourselves at about 10 miles :)

What have I done!

Nice one John
7 months and counting ( I guess that didn't really help did it  :D)

Well done!

Have you started traing yet?

Wow John! That's impressive. All the best on that one.
Actually, you could take a camera with you and take lots of urban shots along the way. :D

Good luck John. Always wanted to do one, but body won't let me due to injuries.

Start training asap you won't regret it on the day then.

Good luck John, hope the training goes to well and try and enjoy the day.

Thanks for the good wishes - I'm gonna need all those and more!!!

Training starts today! :)

Congrats (I think ), no seriously, well done, and good luck. Bet there's lots of interesting things to get shots of along the route...:D

You will have to let us know your race number so that we can keep an eye out for you .. :D

Its the wonderfully palindromic 17071 :)

 Like out-of-condition bearded blokes collapsing in a state of exhaustion

Waaaaay heeeeey!!!! :woot:

Best of luck, John

I hope youre going to keep us all up to date on your regime, progress, including lack of, and times when you fall off the fitness waggon too.
Then hopefully come the end of your tale, some wonderful TP tog will be there to capture you in all your exhausted glory for us. :D

Seriously though ... good luck!

Congratulations John on being selected.

Perhaps we should have a tp photographer at every milepost to record your progress in the marathon?!!!

Of course you'll need a talkphotography.co.uk t-shirt!

One of the reasons I posted this was for encouragement :)

If you lot know about it there's less chance of me bottling out :)

So 26 Togs needed eh? I don't doubt there are other TPF'ers who have been accepted as well , I know at least one who applied and didn't get in :(

Its peeing down in London at the mo so my early run is scuppered!

Maybe I'll start a training blog! If I can figure out how to! :)

Yeah John, You have got to keep us up to date with the training. Oh an KoG I like your thinking

 Can you imagine the pressure that would put him under, not only the miles but having to look anything other than completely knackered every few hundred yards ...

Smile John, you can do it. :D

 We just dont tell him were people will be then we get great candid shots. :D:D:D

Oh and John, bit of rain never hurt anyone!! GET OUT AND RUN!!!!!!!!

My wife ran it this year, she loved it but can't remember seeing much of London, the whole route was lined with cheering crowds. Write your name on your top and people will shout it out, can make a big difference when you hit a low point.

Also check out any local running clubs, they often have training groups for various distances.

Thanks for the tips Andy and well done to your Mrs :)!

I have just had an idea!! We should get John to have a chariot attached to his hips with a TP member sat in it. When John slows dowwn etc they can whip him    :exit: :D

Matt's revealing a little too much about his fantasy life there methinks

Of course John you do realise what could happen when you're running in the marthon you could be selected to be interviewed live on BBC television!!! Particularly if you're wearing some daft costume!

If you do decide to wear a costume just don't let Matt design it!

First run of the regime :)

A 45 minute outing of mainly running with some walking (about 35 minutes running I reckon ) and I covered 4.2 miles.

And boy will I feel it tomorrow :)

:bat: You wont be able to run if you keep it up
