OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

You just need to be able to see the world upside down and back to front, and have the self confidence to do this when you have your head stuck in the sand dark cloth. Putting it simply - anti-social with warped vision.
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The Mamiya Super 23 solved all my problems. 6x9 back, swapped for a bright ground glass when on a tripod but most of the time I used the big bright frame lines in the coupled viewfinder/rangefinder. Only one print seems to have survived from those days :(

^^Thats^^ a cracking portrait of a very pretty lady! (y)

Thanks very much. Does you specialist have a quarter plate back? If not I could make you an offer for the small DDS's, assuming they look likely to fit. Are they plate or film holders?

I suspect that I bought a complete outfit - it had all the bits I would have expected, anyway - and that the smaller holders fit the smaller back, which might be quarter plate. I'll dig the bits out and take a look. I can say that I have no intention of using quarter plate film since it's smaller than 5x4 and can't be bought off the shelf (as far as I know) so it seems that I may be happy to see the bits go to a good home if they are indeed quarter plate.

What started out as a search for a cheap Voigtlander Bessa R has now turned into a purchase of an R3a body...

Oops! But I can get by for a while and wait for some cheap Leica M mount glass to turn up right...? .....Riiiiiight??????

Nice camera ….. even more nice with some Leica glass attached.

I’m surprised the swear filter didn’t block your posting of the attached words ´cheap Leica ´ tbh

I suspect that you’re already aware of alternatives…. I forget the exact name / model but I had ( in addition to some M glass) , a couple of voigtlander lenses which were superb.

I’m eyeing up the 40mm 1.4 MC voigtlander lens but must stand strong until a well priced example comes available

I have the voigtlander 40mm,21mm and 15mm with my R3a all superb lenses.

Not sure of the relative prices, but I had the M-Rokkor 40/2 and it is an absolutely beautiful lens.

There’s an SC one at Ffordes but you’ve maybe seen that one. I think it is £349?

There’s an EXC+ one in Japan for £260 which includes postage and a hood. Hovering over the buy it now button. Of course then 20% taxes but still a fair price. I’ve been lucky with the couple of lenses I’ve gotten from Japan for my 67.

I‘ve never tried buying from Japan, is that on eBay? I’ve been looking out for a 35mm lens for my Leica..

Yeah, eBay. I know there’s a stigma against buying on eBay but I can’t fault the descriptions and/or prices I’ve paid.

My 110mm Symmar XL lens came from Japan (as new, boxed) and several 5x7 film holders (as new, boxed). There may be other items that have slipped my mind. So far, fair price, and in at least one case, an unadvertised and worthwhile extra. I've just paid attention to the sellers' reputations.

If it eases any concerns, I’ve bought from japan on a number of occasions ( usually lenses)and only ever encountered one issue which was quickly rectified by the eBay seller.

As for taxes, yes 20% as mentionned but dont discount other fees ( customs like their cut too!)

Admittedly it’s a while since the last time but i wouldnt hesitate if i found what i was looking for tbh.

And buying from Japan could be considered a patriotic duty, as you're increasing the stock of quality lenses over here! That's what I've been trying to tell myself about the Pentax M 28/2 lenses I've been eyeing up, recently. Hasn't quite worked yet, but I'll get there!

And buying from Japan could be considered a patriotic duty,

Or you could place an order for a Cooke Triple Convertible lens, or, to be extra patriotic, two to take advantage of the further combinations possible.

To avoid the difficulties with HWMBO of taking receipt of parcels , i can supply a european adresse :naughty:, à safe haven if you will for said lens(es)……. For an indéfinite period of Time at no cost:p:LOL::LOL:

Double import duty, what's not to love! ;)

Done some more work on the Kodak Specialist.

IMG_1403 copy.jpg

There were a couple of screws missing and one of the rear standard uprights had detached itself as a consequence, so I ordered replacements.

IMG_1393 copy.jpg

I filled the defective screw holes with a little araldite, I imagine the screws could be removed by heating the screw heads with a soldering iron. You can see the list of sizes on the attachment. If anybody is in need of any small wood screws (the Kodak has a mahogany frame) I'm happy to send some.

So I ended up with 200 screws of a suitable size, and another 1000 of bigger screws! Actually, in retrospect I should have ordered slotted head screws, but these do the job.

Looking like a job well done so far Peter. (y)

So I'm good to go now that I have also loaded a 5x7 DDS. A bit of a pain even in the Calumet dark tent thingy. Wouldn't like to load 10x8 in the contraption. I've never loaded Ilford film before so the cardboard sleeve enclosing the sheet film confused me somewhat and the film flew all over the place in the tent .

This is the back of the camera which rotates by unscrewing and repositioning. Of the four lower knobs the ones on the extreme left and right allow the back to be moved backwards and forwards, the left hand knob controls rear tilt and the right knob rear swing, the front standard only has rise/fall and tilt. So overall there is no horizontal shift.

Canon P with Canon 50mm F1.4 LTM Lens received from Film Furbish today, I will be shooting this exclusively in 2023.

I have also added the KEKS KM02 light meter (chrome) which fits in the top cold shoe quite nicely as well.

Black Half Case by Tp and the strap is the Kensington by Hawkesmill.

Very nice one. How is the shutter curtain, no kinks?

I use one of those with my Contax IIa. Looks in keeping and works well.
A beautiful camera the Contax IIa :) it does look good and I am glad you are happy with yours. I have yet to test mine.

I have a Contax iiia, very nice, beautiful engineering; unfortunately the vertical alignment of the rangefinder focusing is knackered so it needs TLC.

Recently got 2 nice “new-to-me” toys…

The 500C and Yashica Mat 124 G joined my m645J.

The Yashica needs LOTS of love, seals and a GOOD service…just pulled my first successful film out of the tank from the 500C…fluffed the first one completely due to a ham-fisted load into the developing reel…

Happy times!!
