Oops!

Agfa Isolette iii with Apotar lens.

No idea why postie knocked and handed me a parcel with this in.

Rangefinder wheel was solid, but easily fixed. Negs drying and it looks like there are no light leaks.

Will post results later.

I'm not entirely sure I've done the right thing, but have just bought a tidy looking Fed1 with Industar 61. When it arrives I'll put some photos up and shoot a roll through it to check alignment. After that I'll either find that I like the industrial simplicity to slow me down or it will be in the classifieds in a week ;0)

I've just put a Fed 4 with the same lens on ebay..... you could have had that if I'd known. :banghead:

Thanks Andy but it's the early Fed/Zorki 1 body that I like the look of although I reckon the 4 might be better made!

Well bored so I've just treated myself to a Canon FL 100mm f3.5......quite small even with a hood. Now it's given me something to do to see how good it is o_O Mind you with twenty 50mms plus 2 Xs extenders and loads of zooms and two other 100mms..... did I really need it.

Works well with the T70 ;).... and at £21 inc postage on the bay thought it was a reasonable buy.

£21..... blimey Brian, you're spending like Beckham., won the lottery have we?

Or more to the point, will you ever use it.:)

No particularly noteworthy, but I was using my new 35-105 Pentax-F lens today. Those at the Peaks meet may remember that I lost a Tamron 28-105 in an evil bay auction; maybe it was a good thing as I think it was 200 gm or so heavier than this lens, which is as compact as my 24-50. Seems to autofocus quite snappily, I guess I'll have to wait and see whether it has any problems. The walk reminded me again how nice the Pentax Z01 is; someone said it "gets out of the way and let's you take photos", which seems pretty true (I do worry it's a bit too like a digital camera in its operation, though...). It IS big and heavy, which is why saving weight on the lens is helpful.

After a cleanup with some lens wipes, lighter fluid and cotton buds I've got a pretty tidy looking Fed 1G :0)

The shutter curtains were sticking a bit but after winding and firing for a while and some cleaning up of the gearing inside they're sounding much better. However, I'm after some advice from anyone who's used one of these before. I can't set the shutter speed until after I've wound on but when I do that, the steps that the shutter speed dial fits into don't line up with the speeds? However, if I set it to the last speed (guessing that's 1/500) then trip the shutter, the speed lines up properly 'at rest' ?

Shutter cocked, speed set on dial to last position (turning clockwise)

If I then take a picture, it sounds like 1/500th as I'd expect. The shutter speed dial then sits at 1/500th waiting to be wound on;

I initially thought someone had moved the speed dial round causing it to go out of alignment but it wouldn't be correct at rest then?

i have a feeling these could be damaged but changing speed before winding on, could this of happened in its past? then again i might be totally off the mark:D

Nice....If you are not a dedicated filmie a good combo is digi for general use and Medium format film to slow down and enjoy taking pictures.
I agree. I'm using an OMD and a Nikon F3. The whole experience is different, not in the least because there is no instant gratification which promotes thought before action with the F3.

It's ok, panic over :0) I found some information about disassembly and the Fed1 shutter speed dial is screwed on then the grub screw I can see on the side locks it in place. I've just unscrewed the dial (a bit nerve-wracking and was expecting cogs to fly out!), cleaned up the threads and screwed it back on into place. It doesn't need to screw on completely tight but looks like someone had done that in the past. It's now showing the right shutter speed when cocked :0)

:clap:ace, glad its sorted

Thornton Pickard Beck Symmetrical lens on my Wista 45DX. Remarkably clean glass for a 100 year old plus lens. I have had a lens board made but at the moment I don't have a retaining ring so its held in place by a big elastic band. The lens board is just marginally too big, about 1/2 mm, and this has allowed a little light leak but once I've had it sorted and the ring has arrived to hold it in place and the end of lens shutter is here, we're good to go.....

Actually a pretty sharp lens considering it is over 100 years old.

The retaining ring, which is actually a 46mm filter adapter, has arrived and works well. I've taped the edges of the lens board and I'm going to try a couple of still life shots in a bit.

Not specifically film but I've just bought a set of three soft releases for my Fed. I've never had one before so didn't know which type I'd prefer so bought these for £3.23!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152238863128

They arrived today and feel pretty well made and the silver finish seems solid.

I think the convex one feels best to me but I'll see how I get on.

I always preferred the concave type, somehow it felt more positive.

They look good Steve. Is the internal thread on the shutter button generally a standard size on most cameras? I might get a pack of those for Jan and I to try out.

Andy

The thread on the buttons are tapered so they'll fit on most cameras. The thread on the camera is a standard size though I think so cable releases screw in.

for times when full frame just doesn't cut it, i couldn't resist

I think the RB67 is one of two or three cameras that I would never get rid of unless I really had to. It's an amazing machine. A heavy beast for sure ,but it's definitely carriable for landscapes if its in a decent bag.
