Other than a massive zoom...for £1 picked up 6 rolls of 35mm film, four were Kodak gold expired in 2011, but the other two naturally thought the same date but expiry was 2001 , but the punch line is:- they were LLoydspharmacy film made in the EU (never heard of it).. h'mm probably Ferrania and would be interesting if it doesn't have a colour cast after all this time.

Just been given an unopened Durst C35 enlarger and box of Darkroom stuff. I feel a project coming on.

Got my Lomo Digitaliza 110 and 120 holders. They look well built, and on a quick scan, the 120 holder appears to yield slightly sharper scans than the stock Epson holder (as well as being able to scan 3 frames of 6x6 rather than 2).

Easy to knock Lomo, but if they are producing good products benefiting film photography, I'm all game

I've just collected my GA645 from the sorting office and paid the £30 import duty (along with the £8 handling fee). It's actually smaller an lighter than I expected it to be which is a bonus. Just need to grab another cr123 battery and I'll put a film through it. Unfortunately it's a bit of a long month so finances might mean I have to sell this on sooner than I'd want to but I'm hoping to still have it for the Chester meet along with the Pentacon Six

Cheers
Steve

Just found out the import duty, vat and handling fee for my new toys £232 :'(

Still I expect I'll be happier when I collect it from the sorting office tomorrow.

Do they hold old box brownie negs? Been looking for a holder for my 4870 flatbed. Do they completely replace the stock holder or slot in?

What size are they? Unless they are very similar to 120 size (much like the Epson holders, they are held in by the sides of the film).

They are a completely separate entity - you use them as a holder by themselves.

I'm glad to hear that you're liking the Digitaliza holders so far. It's hard to knock a company that's investing money into film photography and developing new products that are useful for film users.

Here's my baby-brother version of the above :0)

Cool!

What do you think of the camera thus far? I think I'd like to get one of the MF rangefinder type cameras at some point and I'm intrigued by the 645 Fuji cameras.

I'm waiting for a second battery to arrive before I run a film through it but the actual handling of it is better than I expected. It's more tactile and less brick-like than it looks and the weight seems to be just right.

Once I get the second battery and find out how the AF performs i'll let you know.

Cheers

Sounds good; have fun! I'm particularly curious to hear your thoughts regarding the AF performance.

I'm like a kid at christmas :) My new (old) MF toy has just arrived at work and I can't wait to get a film in it. It's a Pentacon Six TL with MC Biometar 120/2.8.

Overall it's in great condition, the only negative being a dink in the outer ring of the lens and a slightly loose WLF which I've just tightened up and is spot on now :)

Just thought I'd share!

Cheers
Steve

Had an email earlier from Miles Whitehead to say that the film counter is non-repairable unfortunately so he's sending it back to me tomorrow :(

However, apart from the film counter the rest of the body/lens is pretty much perfect so not the end of the world! Once it comes back I might put another film through it and will then decide whether I keep this or the GA645 as unfortunately I can't keep both. Either way, i'll list it on here for first refusal before the bay.

Cheers
Steve

That's unusual for it to be unrepairable - is it a part in the actual film counter mechanism that is missing/broken?

Yeah, he said that the counter advance mechanism needs to be replaced so I either look for a body with a non-functional shutter and take the part off it or just shoot without. It's not too hard keeping track of 12 shots I guess :0)

Ah, okay. Most film counter problems tend to be that cameras fall or get damaged and everything goes out of alignment, and it's just a case of assembling it all together again properly. Sounds a bit more serious with your P6 unfortunately, although indeed, 12 shots is not too difficult to keep track of.

Maybe you could even use one of those score-keeping things you find on mini-football tables and tape it to the back to keep track? :p

Certainly an option :0) The rest of the body is fine and the shot alignment was spot on so looks like maybe just bad luck with the counter mechanism.

I should get my battery for the GA645 tomorrow so i'll get to try it out. The P6 is certainly a fair chunk of metal next to the Fuji but delivers great results so I'm really interested to see how the 645 stacks up against it.

I reckon one of these should fit on the back of the P6...

I've just been offered some developing kit by a bloke in work. Seems to be a colour enlarger and colour developer (not a Jobo, but he claims something more classy), safe light and various bits and bobs, trays etc. Only wants £50 for the lot.

Does that seem fair, sounds like it might be a good deal to me.

Andy

The important bit is the enlarger lens if you want very sharp prints, also handy for macro shots using a camera with extension rings or bellows.

It's absolutely pointless without specific details from him - it could be a waste of £50 (there is some absolutely shockingly carp developing gear around), or the best £50 you've ever spent in your life.

Something more classy than a Jobo for colour developing... unless he's offering you a minilab for £50, I'd be interested to know what he has in mind...

I'll check Brian, I think it has a lens with it but if not they are a reasonable inexpensive item to buy.

Knowing Joe it will be high end kit, he doesn't do things on the cheap. He's going to do an inventory over the weekend and let me know what there is on tuesday.

A bit late to the party but here's my battered Fuji GW690 which I've just finished refurbing

Opened up the top plate and cleaned out the rangefinder, removed the roll counter in the base to make it quieter (very easy to do) and replaced all of the manky leatherette with some thin leather. Scrubs up nicely for a £200 camera.

Looks pretty good Rob, I'm thinking I might try some funky coloured leather on mine.....

Did you remove the counter completely or just disengage it? I'm guessing now it just makes the sound of a leaf shutter rather than that weird clunk?

I completely removed it, there was no way to just disengage it without possibly causing any permanent damage to the fragile copper strips that advance the counter, will pop a few photos up if you want

Cheers Andy, half tempted to go for British Racing Green leather when i get a bit of time over summer, this was just a quick job to get it looking presentable.

My richoh 500 ME arrived, light seals are probably far too far gone to use it right away.

Got another back from the Rb67, not sure on the seals on it are any good either.
