My rb67 arrived today, spent the evening taking it apart and swapping bits round. Lovely piece of engineering, I never knew people went to such efforts to make house bricks! Hopefully get out for a walk with it tomorrow though I'm worried it's a little heavy for my tripod!
 
Fair comment, all of you. I read in a lengthy article elsewhere about fake Luftwaffe Leicas that the big giveaway was mm rather than cm on the lens. I admit the shutter release looks right though (the other give away). I just mentioned it...

Dunno about his Leica I've not bothered to look (edit: I just did) but I assume it has mm's on the lens (it has - erm what else?). But in my opinion 'Uncle Ken' is a fake, his quote:

I have to admit I was concerned when it arrived as I had read similar stuff about cm/mm on lenses but the good folks on the price forum mulled it over and had me post pics from all angles.
You agree right about KR he does talk an enormous amount of bollax at times.

You're right about KR, I didn't mean to sound nippy - I should have put a smiley on there! :)

I did think it would be funny if you were right and KR had a fake Leica!

Picked up a couple of new toys today an Olympus trip 35 and this Zorki

I'm sure I will, everything seems to be in order with it. I'll try and get a couple of cheap films in the next couple of days to fully test. If I can remember how to load one :eek:

Not sure how I'll cope without a lightmeter either :shrug:
 
Here's a Balda Pontina I found in my parents' house the other day. I think it was made in around 1936, and it seems to work fine. :)

haha, you'll be fine! Give it a go. I want another Zorki, my self destructed in my hands but it was mistreated in the past, yours looks spot on.
 
Not quite new. Bought this back in May last year - reskinned it and put a few rolls of film through - then noticed that the aperture blades were beginning to stick. As a consequence I moved it to one side with a view to fixing it 'one' day. Decided today was that very day and set to it. Far easier than I ever imagined. I'm really quite excited. I really must get a life. :shake:

Agreed. If my trip turns out OK after I've ran a roll of poundland film through it I'll maybe skin mine. Where did you get the skin from Adrian?

Plus one one Aki Asahi. They only cost $12 dollars for a skin, quite a few to choose from. You'll see from my previous posts in this thread my two Trips n Pen EE3 all re-Skinned with Skins from there. Really easy job to do too!

I buy the odd charity shop handbag for the leather. You usually pay £2 to £3 and its the perfect thickness. I'm going to give my newly acquired Trip a nice brown coat made from a small leather handbag for £1.50. I was debating whether to or not but there's a nasty 'nose rub' on the back that quite honestly turns my stomach. The strap on the bag was 1cm wide brown leather, perfect for re-strapping the case of my Flexilette. Great value!!

And you wouldn't even have to go to the charity shop to get a handbag you could just use one of your old ones :naughty:
 
I'll have you know that all my old handbags are much too expensive to cut up and use on a Trip. They are only to be cut up to use on a Leica.:nono:
 
I recently picked up this AE1 but it doesn't work, :(. The mirrors stuck in the up position, i can hold it down but just springs back up. The net seems to be filled with similar problems but no solutions other than take it to a camera repairer but my nearest is miles away only open week days :s.

I recently disposed of a couple of old leather sofas. Before I got rid of them I stripped off all of the flat leather panels.

I now have six pieces of dark brown leather about 20" square waiting for a suitable project.

Unfortunately, it's a bit too thick to make view camera bellows out of. I might cover a home made valve guitar amp with some of it.

Good choice! I have 3 working ones and they're great. Such a basic and crude camera. Helios lens is smashing and you will love the plain focusing screen :P

I've got some upholstery swatches and it is too thick but what you describe sounds great. Valves and a lovely brown leather = total retro and unique. Nice:cool:

Felt a bit down today after receiving a bit of bad news so I have treated myself to a Minolta X-500 with another 50mm 1.7 attached. I was a bit let down last week when I bought an X-700 from the local Cash Converters only to have it be faulty. Fingers crossed that this one (from the auction site) is working as it should.

I am now looking at buying a few more MD lenses, to really nail my flag to the Minolta pole :lol:

Nice camera and will take a M42 adapter if you want to use any screw lenses. :thumbs:

I can't wait for it to arrive. It should compliment my x300 quite well :) I could get an m42 adaptor as I do have a couple of the lenses. Apparently one of them is supposed to be a decent one too! A 135mm Carl Zeiss. It came with a cheap Practika from the local junk shop!
