OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

It doesn't say, but I'm sure it's 50mm with a 55mm thread.

Just wondered if it's worth getting an adapter (if I can) for either my OM10 or maybe an XXD Canon. Or bin it

It's a 28mm f2.8 wide angle and the filter size is 55mm.

Makinon were an aftermarket budget lens manufacturer in the 80s and made lenses for most of the fittings available at the time. The 28mm was a quite good performer though so not all bad.

If you post some more photos including a couple of the mount, we may be able to advise you what fitting it is.

Definitely not Pentax K, on the Pentax mount the locking indent is next to the aperture control lever. This is opposite to it.

Possibly Yashica / Contax 3 claw bayonet ???

Perhaps this isn't the sexiest or coolest camera on this thread, but I'm pretty excited about the Nikon F-801 that I've just picked up for £5.20.

Lots of plastic obviously, but it feels quite solid and the viewfinder is nice and bright. I've run a quick roll through it to make sure everything works and all appears well so far. I think it'll make a good back-up film body.

You're right they are a bit plasticky but they are solid and reliable and you have got yourself a real bargain. My first Nikon was an 801, bought in 1989 back in the days when students got given a grant not a lifetime of debt.

It still works, I have the original boxes and IMHO although it's a bit slow to focus it was a great workhorse for me and was my only SLR until I bought a D80 20 years later.

I'll be using mine as part of my much delayed 52cameras project.

Nick,

have you still got the Nagaoka?

Oh yes Ed, not had the opportunity to use it anywhere near as much as I wanted to but hopefully the weather will be kind to me over the Christmas break and I'll be able to get some moody, misty landscapes.

I've never really done any still life photography but I've been seriously tempted just so I can get the chance to use the Nagaoka, I might have to fashion some sort of indoor lighting rig and see what I can get out of it.

What's on your shopping list this year Ed? What size format can we look forward to seeing next year?

If developments are to continue at the same rate as this year, its gotta be a 20x24 polaroid surely...:D

No change next year, although I may try to find a nice 8x10 field camera, I am not feeling the love for the 8x10 monorail (too big, heavy and cumbersome in use.

My big thing next year is to get a 4x5 reducing back for my 5x7 Canham MQC 5x7 (they really are like rocking horse poo and $750 plus shipping and customs fees) so am waiting for someone to adapt another make to fit.

I am also going to buy either a 4x5 or 5x7 Devere or Durst Enlarger, I think the time has come for me to go back into the darkroom.

If you drop me your address by PM I'll drop a little Christmas prezzie in the post for you.

 Sorry, I don't think I'm going any larger, the costs rise exponentially with the size of the format. I now have 9x 8x10 Fidelity Elite film holders and they have just about broken the bank, never mind the film at £2+ a sheet and that's for the cheap stuff (Foma & Adox). Ilford is circa £4.40+ a sheet.

Absolutely love my 5x7 Canham though, just looking for a reasonably priced 5x7 enlarger now.

Ahhh......but think of the processing savings......you wouldn't need an enlarger or darkroom, and and and....instant pictures..

Paper is only £99 a sheet, and then there's the errr.......lorry...:suspect:...hmmm

You're right.....We look forward to some 5x7's & 8x10 next year Ed..:)

Well here's the kit so far. Just waiting for the 135mm from Ffordes and a 180mm from somewhere.

That's building very nicely Andy, are you bringing it to 'that London' film meet?

Probs, may need to hire a camel to carry it though.

Yes, funny that......:whistling:

Just been given 2 cameras, an olympus trip xb3 and an kodak duraflex II. is it still possible to get film for the Kodak?

Sort of! 620 film is no longer produced so you'll either have to respool 120 film onto 620 reels or modify a roll of 120 film (see the 'Brownie Itch' thread for more info).

Do you need two vewfinders when shooting stereo, Lloyd? :D

The 2.8, I've been shooting with the 3.5 for a while now but I've always wanted a Planar. I see it as a birthday present to myself. :)

A handsome 2.8 at that. Is that one that had a meter installed in a past life, and has since been removed?

Yeah, it's a 2.8F with the meter removed. I actually bought a 2.8E which looked much nicer cosmetically and had a working meter (useless anyway since I'm so much faster with a handheld), but the lens elements were beginning to separate.

Nicer cosmetics are only there to be ruined, so a slightly rough one is fine! I'm sure you'll be very happy with it, they are absolutely superb cameras.

If you ever need to get it CLA'd I thoroughly recommend Brian Mickleboro.
