OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

Very true, last month i was given a film camera, and now I already have 3!

and this time next year you will have........................................................................ TOO MANY!! :D :D :D

Please post a picture! It would be great to see what it looks like, I think they are pretty rare perhaps?

Koniflex

Here it is! I don't know about the rarity but apparently about 13000 was made and this was the only TLR Konica made? Looks like an attempt to challenge Rollei though :)

Looks easy enough to use although the viewfinder hood is a bit stiff when opening and closing. Lens looks good and shutter seems fine. Came with a battered case. Anyway probably have to run a roll through it to see if it's actually working properly.

Would still love more info but!:D

I guess you trip over the mahoosive pig-iron rear lens cap it's attached to ?

I should say, actually I have a bit of a soft spot for the FSU cameras, having resurrected a Fed-3b when it's shutter curtain turned to powder, and bought a non-functional Fed4 purely because it DID have the lanthanide version of the Industar 55. The Fed4 IS now a big heavy lens rear-cap, mainly because someone changed the shutter speed before cocking the shutter and completely munged the clockwork gubbins - I think it might have been a late afternoon, second bottle of wodka version, and just went "sproing"

I wonder how many fed4's are bought for the lens alone. I have a knackered fed4 body on my office shelf. Also bought solely for the I61 lens. The shutter on mine is fine but the rangefinder lens coupler cam thingy has been ripped off.

My latest acquisition, from this very forum in fact. Certainly an interesting experience using it.

Psyence, it looks excellent, you are right it does have a touch of the Rollei about it. Look forwarding to seeing some shots made with it.

Got a lovely birthday surprise from my wife this morning (now now..). Along with the home-brew kit was a Calumet changing tent! Goodbye sweaty changing bag :)

I've got one of those, the changing tent not the home brew kit. Really useful bits of kit

If you don't do the decorating today it will still be there tomorrow, if you miss the shot it's gone forever.

Sad i know, but for the equivalent of £2.50, I couldn't leave it sat gathering dust in the shop......Works just fine including the flash!!

I've considered getting one of these, they look like fun.

Could be an interesting challenge....anywhere do a good "bulk buy" deal so all in f&c can build one??.............If not I have a meccano set....does helicopters, robots, cars ...not sure about TLRs though!! lol

I've been sorely tempted to buy one, especially at the price of them, but I just can't justify another camera (guys... don't try and feed me excuses as normal!).

Could be a right laugh.....I get a feeling it could turn out a bit like the final puzzle game they used to have in "Krypton factor" (who remembers that program??!!).

Cheers Charlotte, I'll have a read of it right now! How do you find using it?

Asha the cheapest they do it on EBay for is £7.80 free p&p. But you'd have to wait for delivery from Hong Kong. Alternatively it's £9.99 from UK supplier.

I've not started shooting yet, but the shutter seems nice and solid. It seems the frame counter doesn't work very well on mine - Googling it, it's a common problem. So I'll have to guess how much to wind it on by... It's really light though, and so small. And has the added bonus of taking 35mm, cheap to process!

Have you got a link to the UK supplier please.....I don't seem to be able to find one

EDIT.....Found one ....checking all the bumph atm ready to take the plunge....how exciting!! lol.......anyone else joining in for the laugh??

Well, there's three of us with one now, you don't want to be left out... ;)

......and with Poundland still doing Agfa Vista Plus 36 exp for .....yep a quid! name another activity which will give you few hours worth of fun for £10.99! yes only £10.99!

Come on guys ......you know you wanna be in on the fun....

I don't get much time to shoot as it is, so if I do shoot with a TLR there's only one choice for me I'm afraid

Looks like a blast though, for sure.

OK, this is as nothing compared with the exotica we so often see on here, but I'm very pleased with my latest charity shop acquisition, a Pentax MX and a Tamron 28-50mm f/3.5 zoom lens. The MX is to give me a more manual experience than my old and much-loved ME, and the zoom is to let me try out some different wider focal lengths. the zoom is a bit heavy, so may not be a keeper. There was a Pentax-M 40mm in the same shop, for rather a large amount (more than I paid for body and zoom combined); it is extremely small, but I thought it would be a bit fiddly adjusting the very narrow aperture ring, and from what I read it seems rather softer than most Pentax-M lenses.

I was a bit worried about the Pentax when I fitted the supplied batteries every which way up without a flicker, but luckily I had a couple of spares in an envelope, and now the LEDs light up just fine. Managed to find a few rolls of Vista at the big Coventry Poundland this afternoon, so I'm all set to try it out now!

Chris, don't sell it short it looks a great example of a very nice MX. Look forward to seeing some Vista images from it!

I wish my local charity shops had that sort of kit for sale!

I blame the combination of a phone camera and a 20W bulb. But still, thank you freecycle! :D

Just need a battery now.

I do the rounds of the local charity shops fairly regularly; Oxfam quite often has odd stuff in, currently a half dozen or so zooms, a Cosmic Symbol, an Ensign box, the Kodak Portrait No 2 and Brownie 127 I mentioned before, and something else whose name I can never remember when I get home! But this was in a charity where I've never seen any camera gear before. Apparently an elderly gentleman (ahem!) came in with a bunch of Pentax gear. As well as what I've bought and the 40mm I mentioned, there's also a Tamron 85-210 (ish) push zoom. The other shops seem to just have junk...

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but a local camera shop also has a bunch of old lenses. These include two brand new (ie never sold) Carl Zeiss Jena Jenazooms. One's a 80-200 with a M42 thread; the other is a 70-210 with an unknown bayonet (it looks just like a K mount, red dot and all, and with a bit of jiggling you can even get the lens onto a Pentax body, but it won't turn). They both look absolutely gorgeous and are short and light.

I know they are not German, being made under licence by various Japanese companies with Sigma being widely fingered. I saw a comparison of the 70-210 against a bunch of other lenses, where it seemed to come out reasonably well in the middle. Weight is a big deal for me because of poor grip in my right hand, so I'm tempted (they're a bit over half the weight of my current ancient non-extending Tamron 85-210). Obviously I could get a M42 to K mount converter; my question is, what do I lose on the two manual bodies? People say "stop-down metering", but I don't understand what that actually means in practice! All the descriptions assume I know more than I do...

I'd really fancy the bayonet one, but obviously you'd have to know what you're getting, which in this case not even the shop owner seems to know (I think they were bought by the previous owner).
