Picked up this pair of gems locally a couple nights ago, a new battery arrived today so stuck a film in it and seems to be working perfectly.

They're a year younger than me, and I reckon they've been looked after better lol.

Got myself a yashica. I have no doubt that I overpaid for this thing (thanks ebay noobs!) But I'm happy to have it.

Well done James, that looks in superb condition. Welcome to the club.

Andy

@James have a hunt on Ebay for a lens hood for the Yashica, it's a bay 1 fit, same as the Rollei's, it really helps and improve the image, I use one on mine all the time.

@2Thumbs: EOS 650? I remeber when they came out brand new and I used to sell them, they were so easy to sell at the time, god I feel old now

Indeed! The lack of button and ease of use is like a breath of fresh air compared to it's digital cousins. I'm looking forward to putting a roll of slide film through it. :)

Am I right in thinking the 650 was the first EOS camera ever produced?

Not really new to me as it was my first ever film camera, I believe my Nan got it free with tokens from something (probably jam), would have been late 80's. Anywho, it's new as in I have just found it again in a box of stuff!! good old 110 film hehe

Just looked in the Canon Camera Museum and yes it appears that the EOS 650 was the first.

Cool. That looks smaller than a 110 cartridge though you might just have enormous hands!

Well that looks a lovely example, some great shooting ahead with that I am sure!

Now you mention it I think I've seen something similar before, I wonder if I had one of those when I were a little younger.

Absolutely!!

You can have some good fun even with 127 brownies and instamatics.

Should any of them have minor faults, they can usually still be manipulated to give out a shot....there is plenty of info online of how to adapt presently available film for use in old gear, and of course there are many of us on here who have got results from all sorts of formats....including 116/616, 828, 620 and 127....just ask if you need help.

Thank you

I've got the 630 :) I love it, it's fantastic to use.

Been after a DL mini for ages - could never afford one though!

Seems like they are quite rare in this country, give the guy at japan camera hunter a bell, he managed to track down a Konica big mini for me a few months back.

I had forgotten that I'd kept this

think bought it about 25 years ago. I'm gonna give it a go.

I have a very similar model that I picked up still boxed for £2 in a charity shop. It's so ugly and noisy I can't muster up any enthusiasm to use it...
Let us know how you get on with yours!

Will do.

I've just been looking at some prints of photos taken with it.

They are good quality.

I think I have one knocking about....seem to recall there's a 90 and a 105.....one work, one doesn't .....haven't played with them in quite some time.....this may be just the encouragement needed to dig em out!

Yes I seem to recall noisy....quite heavy their size too and needing 2 x C123A batteries iirc

I have just been given a Fed 4 from our camera group. It (and a few other SLRs) were donated from an Oxfam shop who were unable to sell them. It is beautiful! Need to think of a strong Russian name for it though! Thinking of some nice Ilford..

Nice! Which camera group do you belong to?
Also which oxfam shop!?

Just got a Koniflex TLR. Though not a lot of info regarding this? Probably needs a CLA too.

Please post a picture! It would be great to see what it looks like, I think they are pretty rare perhaps?

I guess you trip over the mahoosive pig-iron rear lens cap it's attached to ?

I should say, actually I have a bit of a soft spot for the FSU cameras, having resurrected a Fed-3b when it's shutter curtain turned to powder, and bought a non-functional Fed4 purely because it DID have the lanthanide version of the Industar 55. The Fed4 IS now a big heavy lens rear-cap, mainly because someone changed the shutter speed before cocking the shutter and completely munged the clockwork gubbins - I think it might have been a late afternoon, second bottle of wodka version, and just went "sproing"

it's the mechanical/clockwork equivalent of "releasing the magic smoke" that you get with electronic failures...

Last night I just purchased an Olympus Trip 35 from eBay. Looks like the later model with the plastic shutter button and looks in quite good nick!! Thought I'd try life in the 35mm film world...... I'm quite excited about having a go.... Also "just for fun" bought a DIY Recesky TLR. so I may put my canon 400d n canon powershot sx150 away for a little rest and have me some fun Battery n LCD display free ;) and go get that feeling of sending the film in n waiting for the results! ;)

Good man, slippery slope though. This week an Oly Trip next week a big RB67.....
